  1. Well, if we needed a swift kick in the ass to stop buying these awful nostalgia reissues and support new artists...this is it, gang.

    Chris Cornell (1964-2017)

Also the show ended around 11:15 and reports said that they found him around midnight. So that is a pretty small window for her to get that worried if there were no signs of something being wrong. So crazy that it all happened that fast. Tragic all around. Here's a couple pics from last night. I try not to be the dick taking pictures all show but I'm glad i got a few.

  5. Seriously? You don't fucking mature yourself out of depression. Even when people you know are aware of the struggle it doesn't always make it easier. It's a daily fucking struggle for people dealing with depression. It's not just feeling sad.

  8. Pretty insensitive to even joke that these two things are remotely in the same category of bad news.

  10. Just, just fuck everything. I usually don't get so worked up over deaths in the music industry, due to what people go through in the industry it's unfortunately expected, but this, no. This is so unexpected. His was so young, and this was so sudden. Man, I don't even know how to interpret this. Badmotorfinger is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time, and absolutely love everything Chris touched. This is a rough one. Thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.

  12. I'm honestly surprised it took this long for the NIN camp to realize that Firebrand are shit. I mean, c'mon...it all started with the debacle over the immediate downloads for any orders placed w/ not only the reissues but also NTAE release. I emailed them multiple times requesting the downloads and nothing happened for well over two weeks. Thankfully a few kind VCers hooked me up as they got lucky and got their downloads. The thread about this over at ETS is hilarious. Those folks are even more pissed at Firebrand than we are here in VC.

  14. The best we can hope for a Puddle of Mudd thread is a discussion about Coheed that stays positive and doesn't end in a lock and praise for Thursday. I can't imagine a better use.

  16. I agree with your message more than you care to know. I disagree with your tone and the time and place. That tone isn't going to open any hearts and minds to the message. Chris Cornell's music meant so much to so many people in so many different ways. I'm usually not an emotional person when it comes to death, but as I ponder what his music has meant to me, I can't help but mourn his passing with a heavy heart. His voice and songwriting skills were truly special and will continue to inspire, support, and uplift me for the rest of my life.

  22. Chris Cornell has passed away. I'm pretty heartbroken. He was such a talented musician. I finally had the opportunity to see him perform 2 years ago on his solo acoustic tour. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/18/arts/music/chris-cornell-dead-soundgarden.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0

  25. This. Though I kind of wish they just put all the tracks (including "Suck" and "Physical") just on the 12" and skip the separate 7". I have the original promo TDS 2LP but I would probably grab that one to just to see if its good. I love that promo copy I've got. Sounds amazing.

  26. Sounds like they fired Firebrand. Or just went with a different webshop solution that needs to have the data converted and they're giving themselves til early June to have it all sorted out. I hope they relaunch on time and these LP's get shipped.

  28. So many obvious songs that we all know well that I could post to celebrate his legacy , but instead I wanted to share a live performance that I didn't know existed until a friend shared it with me earlier.

  29. I don't need you to tell me to take it easy, man. People need to understand that real depression goes deep to the core of anyone suffering from it. Too many people still think it's someone being dramatic or just overly sad. Many times friends and family don't know what's going on underneath the surface. I want people to understand that and to help others get the resources they need to cope and to be a little more empathetic.

  30. Man, totally crushed by this. My wife and I danced to Chris's cover of "Thank You" at our wedding and we just saw him with Temple of the Dog in LA last year. To me he was the voice of Seattle.

  37. John Podesta has satanic orgies in a nonexistent pizza parlor basement, Seth Rich was murdered by hired goons for leaking DNC info to Wikileaks as proven by news reports of an investigator going off news reports, and any and all claims of the Trump administration's foreknowledge of Russia's plans to interfere with the election are totally fake, man. Only a whacko would believe that.

  38. Absolutely 100% of this, word for word. Down to the years of heavy playtime. The only thing I'd chime in is that I'd add SSTB to IKS and IV to make it a holy trinity. I also gave NWFT a fair shake since IV ended on such a good note for me in their discography – I was overwhelmingly excited for that album. And while it's not horrible, I convinced myself that I liked it a lot more than I actually did for a very long time. I was a naive teenager, I guess. Everything after that has really lost me, but I still can still throw on one of those first 3 albums when I get the urge, and find plenty to enjoy outside of nostalgia. I'm not too far from 30 and I'm still pretty salty that I missed my opportunity to catch Thursday this tour. It just wasn't in the timing and availability for me. I've never caught them and I'd really like to, at least once. I still own their discography with zero shame.

  39. Cheers, I'm hoping this is the case. I bit the bullet and signed up to grab a copy of Fleet Foxes and am hoping the next month's RotM will be Kevin Morby.

  40. 1.) Repress? Nice. 2.) Brent rules. He nailed it when he said "if anyone knew..." - it takes an oppressingly long time to get these coveted pieces of plastic ready for retail and the WORST part is when people find out something is coming and then proceed to literally *badger* you about when they can buy it. Just remember that fielding emails/tweets/texts/whatever only slows the process down. The "process" includes shipping, so every "where's my tracking number" email you send is just a drain. Just chill out. Not just for this release, but for EVERY release. It will be available when it's available and not a minute sooner.
