    Record Store Day 2018

I go to one shop here nearly every week, and last RSD I went at about 2am. It was great, they had a sign up list so you didn't have to stand in a terrible line all night, a fire pit, and music playing. People were just hanging out talking records and music. If you wanted to hop in your car and take a nap you could, it's in a nice area so you can walk around the neighborhood too. Then a couple hours before they open the bring donuts from a local shop and local coffee roasters come out and you get free breakfast. I understand not all of them are like this. I was basically done with RSD until I decided to do that on a whim last year and it was my favorite one yet.

  3. Ambassador has almost nothing to do with it. Last year the ambassador didn’t even get a release.

  6. I can totally understand this. Especially if you're living in freakin Los Angeles lol I bet it is a circus, especially if you're talking specifically about Ameoba Hollywood, I've seen videos. I'm just a country bumpkin tho here in central Oklahoma and the shop I go to in OKC is fairly less-circus-like. I get there about 7-8am depending on the releases that year and am usually 10-15th in line at that point. Always free beer, coffee, breakfast and extra discounts on everything else. So I guess maybe I'm in the minority who love RSD just for the fact its another excuse for me to tell my wife I "have to go" to record store today lol

  10. Ready for the good Dr Dog. New single is pretty dope, reminds me a little of Spoon. Funny but I thought Abandoned Mansions was pretty moody and thoughtful. That album was a total grower.

  12. New Dr. Dog album Critical Equation comes out on 4/27. Already up for sale on Amazon for $19.98. The band/label pre-order goes up on Friday. First single is 'Listening In'. Promo blurb: I really dig the single and hope they dig in a little more deeper than they did for their last 3-4 albums. A moodier, more thoughtful Dr. Dog might be just what I needed.

  13. As a huge fan of her grungier side and as a nameless, faceless bro on the internet, this is pretty much perfect CB for me. Really excited for the new record.

  14. Yeah sure that's exactly what he's saying. It's not a reason they had to keep looking for new plants or anything like that. Nope.

  15. I escalated my claim to PayPal. Still no response from Todd Cuckboi. It is what it is. It's too bad stl_bendmeover is a giant turd too otherwise he could've helped some of us out.

  18. So wondering if everyone would comment on how many “newbies” or first time record store goers are at RSD at ur local shops. The one I go to normally is 80-90% people I see weekly/monthly not a bunch of people that only come for that one day

  20. I understand you are trying to be facetious but if you have the right store it's a blast. The store I go to has live music, beer and breakfast. Sounds good to me. If you have a good store around, give it a shot! I'm sure most of them could use the extra support.

  22. RTJ release almost one thing every RSD. I'm shocked they haven't ever asked Wayne Coyne if he wanted to be the ambassador. Guess he's too busy making gummy fetuses?

  31. Yeah this could happen too. Maybe he’s a fan of gaping in general and he wants people to enjoy it as much as he does? Like his version of “have a nice day!” No one said it’s a bad thing. Seems kind of homophobic to think so.

  33. To clear this up once and for all: Gape - a term usually associated with one's overly dilited anus No mention of “rape” whatsoever. Just cause they rhyme, doesn’t mean they’re the same thing.

  38. Musically this is their most aggressive album since On the Mouth album. Doesn't have the big hooks like the last two albums Lyrically is certainly reflective of the current US political state As a total Superchunk nerd, after 3 listens I give it a 7/10
