  1. On first listen the pressing seems to be stellar. I'm still far from loving this album, but it grew on me and seeing MK play a couple of these tunes live definitely helped me appreciating them more.

  8. The guy who runs my local place is a total Ryan Adams fanboy so he ALWAYS has anything the guy puts out, so when all these started showing up online he got them at his shop as well. I picked up a copy of 29, and it had all the matching matrix numbers and all from the other '08 pressings, and from experience they usually have the newest date/original date of release on the jacket or album somewhere, but these just have the 2008 date on them. I mentioned the NOS idea to him, and he added in that sometimes labels will buy back piles of unsold vinyl from distributors and just sell it directly. Guess it clears room for them to stock new stuff or perhaps they trade out older releases that are just taking up warehouse space.

  10. Drag the River can be good or boring live, depends on the show. I saw them and stood there quietly wishing that Chad would play an ALL song.

  21. The venue I work for is rad....REALLY rad. It's also a 24/7 experimental/ambient "instrument" with various triggers and sensors all over the place (from doors to the restrooms, light sensors inside the venue, sounds sensors that read the decibel levels in the coffee shop/bar, also one I the venue, there's even one that's hooked up to one of the beer tap lines). The Octopus Project from Austin, Texas helped install and set it up. It's a brainchild of our head sound engineer, Daniel Ferris, (who happened to record the first St. Vincent record and was her touring sound engineer) and Brian Teasley (played drums on the first Saint Vincent record, founding member of Man, or Astro-Man?, was in The Polyphonic Spree during the height of their success, and also the owner of the venue). They've dubbed this thing, The Living Venue project. It's accessible 24/7 via Mixlr and they eventually plan to record snippets of it and release it as an album (we'll see about that part). Here's the link with a little more info and a link to the Mixlr http://www.saturnbirmingham.com/livingvenueproject http://mixlr.com/saturnbirmingham PS as I posted this, they're doing a free yoga class inside the venue with the Living Venue Project playing over the PA, so currently, it's feeding into itself and everybody's movement inside is triggering different stuff

  23. Especially not your cat. They're like roommates that don't pay rent, secretly despise you, and shit in a box - then act like they're better than you when you have to clean it out. I love cats.

    Shoegaze/Dream Pop Thread

An online seller just happened to have them in stock. I bought both and checked my CC account and seems i was refunded for one. I called today and they both shipped priority yesterday. I check every morning for records in my wantlist. Still a few 'needs', that hopefully I'll find. Everything ERR touches is gold. Saw her live last week with Marriages along with Creepoid, she has some mad guitar skills. Got Some Heavy Ocean signed by her, which is one of my favorite releases of the past 5 years. I expect to see The Nocturnes back sometime next year, call it a hunch.

  45. New apartment, finally mostly happy with my setup. Just need to get around to hanging the prints. Also now that I look at the photo, the Birdman bill might have to move as the asymmetry is making me a little uneasy. Running a Music Hall MMF 2.2 through a Sherwood RX-109 out a dual setup of Paradigm Atoms (v2) and Polk RT25is. Don't think I've ever actually seen anyone else do dual bookshelf speakers, but I think the pair really compliments each other as the Paradigms give me crystal highs and bring vocals to life so much more, and the Polks really fill everything out. I've been enjoying it thus far.
