  1. Far be it from me to tell anyone how to listen to music or enjoy it, but I sincerely feel that if you're listening to Deviations 1 and just waiting for lyrics or thinking of it as The Fragile: Karaoke Edition, you're doing it wrong.

  4. I get people who can't hear instrumentals without feeling the vacuum of the vocals, but that's just familiarity. I've always been a big fan of instrumentals, I find that if I've had a lot of time to absorb the album with vocals before I hear it without, I'll feel that vacuum stronger, but repeat listens of the instrumental album lessen that. Being that I had already listened to the instrumental Fragile that had been released prior to this a bunch, Deviations wasn't that jarring to me (there there were a few songs where I was waiting for Trent, and on March where I instantly heard Saul, haha). I also don't feel that that vacuum takes away from or lessens the listening experience. I had a thought on it being called Deviations 1, as well. It doesn't make sense that Deviations 2 will be a different album, that would mean the sequence is just random. If there is going to be a Deviations 2 it's going to be related to The Fragile again. Assuming this is all pre-existing material (more or less), it would make sense that it would be Things Falling Apart (or a modified version of it). Broken > Fixed, The Downward Spiral > Further Down The Spiral / Closer to God / Recoiled, Year Zero > Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D, etc. Trent has complained a lot in the past about going overboard with remixes, but he's clearly a fan at the same time. So I wouldn't be surprised if Deviations 2 was a carefully curated/constructed remix album. Personally I really liked Fixed, Things Falling Apart, and Recoiled.

  5. Walked into mine here in NO, and asked the guy in the record section if any were on sale and he pointed me to the 'sale wing.' They only had a handful of records, most of which I didn't even recognize the artist. Did snag a copy of A3 - From Here To Infirmary for $5.99 + tax after 40% off (it was marked 9.99 on sale).

  7. Hah, the bottom green one looks oval due to the terrible picture quality. That picture is like It's A Wonderful Life for me, showing me the path I almost took. In that timeline, I'm also dead right now. Suicide or wife, not sure.

  8. Sweet collection, but most of those records look warped beyond belief. Shame.

  9. I've been bugging EVR about a vinyl pressing for the self titled album for so long. It really might be my favorite album of theirs next to TAOM. "Jabberwocky" and "Bad Days" are my favorite songs by them. I hope they press it.

  11. http://imgur.com/a/EDWX7 I put all the pictures in an album because there was SO MUCH! I opened my present last week, but with work and Christmas and traveling I kept forgetting to get on here and make a post. Thanks so much to @Youinreverse for all of the wonderful gifts! I'm not familiar with all of the records, so I'm excited to dive into some new stuff. Also I forgot to take pictures of the two Bob's Burgers pops and the burger book. I love everything and I can't thank you enough for being so generous.

  12. There was a little buzz around their latest album and some murmurings in the Post Rock/Metal thread in everything else so I figured this could use a thread. We're very pleased to announce that we will be working with Bossk on the reissue of the long out of print 1 & 2. Remastered by Magnus Lindburg for extra sonic abuse, this is not to be missed. Here's a statement from the band: “Releasing Audio Noir has been our ultimate focus since we reformed 4 years ago. We're all extremely proud of the record and the response has been overwhelming at the shows this past year. Our previous recordings however, some over 10 years old now, are ultimately the reason this band still exists today. Creating & recording both .1 & .2 was very new and exciting for us. Essentially trying stuff with music we'd not in previous bands without any experience of playing shows outside the local area, or releasing anything. They're important to us and represent some of the most fun we've had as a band. There has been high demand for the first record to be repressed for sometime and it feels right now that they be made available again. The original press of this was our first vinyl release, released by Garden Of Exile Records and was a huge milestone for us at the time. A huge thanks to Magnus for breathing new life into these songs We have always been friends with the people at Holy Roar and what they have done for the underground UK music scene over the years is something that we have always supported, so for them to be releasing this feels right. - Alex, Sam, Tom, Nick & Rob (Bossk)” Shipping on or around 24th February 2017. 15. I was actually pretty disappointed in their s/t. Something was off. There are still some great tracks on there, but I think I just had far too great of expectations after TAOM - which is one of my all time favorite records. Soeaking of, I actually have a poster from that record release show. It looks awesome.

  16. Pretty sure that is the exact aesthetic UO tries to deliver with their branding.... "Apathy towards pretty much everything, bro."

  18. Kudos to @scottheisel for being a cool seller. I bought fourteen records from this guy and they all turned out great. Took me awhile to give them all a listen, but they were all super clean (even the 10-20 year old titles.) Dude takes care of his records and cut me a decent deal. Well packaged to boot.

  21. Sure thing. Yeah, been getting around to it for the longest time, just haven't been enjoying the recent material enough to keep going. I just need to find the time to take a group pic of everything first, probably after the new LPs arrive.

    Mixtape Trade Thread

I would suppose you could put whatever on it. After all, it's your mixtape. If you're looking for a certain idea from someone else (via trade), just mention the genre you're into. I'm sure someone can throw a mixtape together that satisfies your request.

  25. Man, I had heard people talking about something like that in store. I popped in so quick I had no idea. Thanks so much for clarifying. I'll definitely have to go back before it ends.

  28. You don't think a company sending you the wrong product on purpose (and hoping you won't notice) is a big deal? Is it the worst, I suppose not, but in the very least it says a lot about how little they value their customers.

  31. Why send out a product that's different than the description in the first place? Offering a refund is the bare minimum customer service expectation.

  35. I remember when Virgil was practically giving these away. Wish I bought an OG when they were like $5 Anyways, purchased because even though I was never super into them I recently remembered that My Fucking Deer Hunter is one of the best god damn songs. Has anyone repressed Art Damage on NOT a fucking picture disc yet?

  36. Whoa why is everyone jumping on this person for displaying a record? Sure this person may be trying too hard for a certain aesthetic since they can't even present it through photography nicely. Maybe it's not completely sealed and they cut a slit to take the records out? Either way, don't be salty. It could be their only three records and that's how they chose to display it.

  37. Customer service was pretty bad in the past, I get it, staffing challenges. Hopefully improves with time, posting on vc is pretty brave of you guys so I have to give you props there. One site issue that bugs me is not enough detail in the listings, things like upc, release date, country of origin. There are many pressings of titles so it's hard to know which one you are selling sometimes. I have snagged some really great deals from you guys but at the same time it's a little comical when I get those emails with titles that are full msrp. They are also usually titles or bands that I care little to nothing for myself; with a little sleuthing I bet you guys could narrow it down to more targeted messages. Speaking of boxed sets, I would love to have a chance at that Crystal Method box that came out last year, I had no clue it was a thing until too late :(.

  38. And...even now that its been proven, elitist assholes still gonna asshole. Not the least bit surprised.

  39. So at this point, we're all just being complete assholes and assuming that the OP has NOT listened to the record? Is that what I'm to take away from this? I mean, aside from the fact that every forum, regardless of subject, is filled with snarky douchebags, of course.
