  1. If you want to have a portfolio of value, don’t buy records, buy stocks and index funds.

  2. Hot take: everything this band released after Act III pales drastically in comparison to that first trilogy.

  3. Upping pressing numbers after one sells out is always a shitty move. Just add a black option or another color it’s that easy. Not too upset because I’ve wanted these for a LONG time and would’ve bought an unlimited black version anyway but still..

  4. This. Especially for records that are $60+ on the aftermarket now, it's only driven by scarcity. Eventually, there will be another vinyl crash where people want the space in their homes back and those values will not hold. Not everyone wants to be 60s and have their 2000's pop-punk and metalcore collection in their living room. If you were ever here for the investment, then it's your responsibility to watch for when that crash comes and get out before it's reduced back down to the price of plastic and paper.

  5. I think you are in for the wrong reasons if you expect vinyl To “hold value” other than its intrinsic value. I buy records because I want music and I want something tangible. I suspect most are the same. Usually the argument about value only comes up when something like this happens. I’d much rather people get what they want rather than not. So changing the pressing details doesn’t bother me. “Value” of records just ends up being a dick measuring contest and it’s lame

  6. I totally agree, but I also can see people who bought a $270 test pressing bundle that was initially advertised as "limited to 10" and then changed to be unlimited after they ordered feeling like they spent $270 on something they didn't order.

  7. Lol at anyone who would freak out about their copy not being as limited as they thought anymore. I'm just stoked to finally be able to add these to my collection. People have been screaming for these for years, and now they're complaining? Yeesh.

  8. This is why I stream collectible 90s/2000s ska punk records and purchase boring unpopular sad indie rock records that depreciate in value by 70% as soon as you click “Buy”.

  13. The best local band from my area is getting their first self release. "Full of Hell has been a band for over a decade. When we started this band, we never guessed that we’d be able to accomplish any of the things we’ve been able to do, and a lot of that was due to A389 Records taking a shot and believing in us early on, releasing our first two LPs, “Roots of Earth are Consuming My Home” and “Rudiments of Mutilation”. Dom (A389) was a constant pusher for our band and gave us guidance anytime we needed it. Late last year, he allowed us to take over and repress these ourselves, and we are now able to announce a long time goal - our first self release, which is taking the form of a deluxe DLP/2CD reissue of both albums together, featuring brand new artwork by @gentlemercies . We have been working towards something like this for years, and we are excited to offer music to you directly from us. Preorder goes live on Wednesday at 12 PM EST through OUR bigcartel and bandcamp. For the first time, you will be able to buy an album directly from us. Thanks for all the support. This is FOH-001." https://fullofhell.bigcartel.com/ https://fullofhell.bandcamp.com/merch Pressing info:Deserted Vessel/200 (Coke Bottle Blue/Black Pinwheel) Coral and Brine/300 (Orange and Blue merge) Dregs of Pluto/500 (Swamp Green/Black Smoke) Silver Moon/500 (Silver) I'm describing them based off the pictures since they all have titles as opposed to literal color descriptions.

  14. Ian. Just listen to what we are saying. This is a band that doesnt condone this type of capitalism . You do this with every band. I get it. You're a label. You need to make money. But with a band like this, I severely reject to what youre doing. I know it's a contract, but fucking hell.

  15. It’s been a long while since I’ve ordered anything in Euros. You’re right. Maybe I’m a little shell shocked from the price. Can’t blame me.

  16. No. DeltaPlex is a convention center that has a large square room with side bleachers and a portable stage. Van Andel Arena is a proper arena in downtown Grand Rapids.

  18. Hi Wouter, I’ll provide you with at least one serious answer here, since I don’t think you’re trolling. I for one would definitely be interested in that (and willing to pay a bit more too).

But this album is an all timer.

  20. I could live without more pressings but I do like the original art and I had to keep the variant collection going.

  21. I've always bought records just cause I love records, and I also have stocks and property and shit. But if the Discogs collection value tally has taught me something it's that my records have actually been my best (accidental) investment (as far as return vs money put in). I personally think it's dumb to look at it as an investment, but if we're being real, I would do very well if I sold all my records today. My stocks and house haven't grown 5x to 10x in value in the past decade, but my Misfits 7"s certainly have.

  22. Pretty dumb to not just add an unlimited black version, esp since this is a preorder and they obviously haven't pressed anything yet. Band and Smartpunk have to be getting slammed for not going that route.

  25. Is this what kids are going to school for these days? Sustainable vinyl sleeves? This must be the equivalent of a philosophy or liberal arts degree when I was in school. You need to rethink how you are going to live and make money in the future without your parents help

  26. I can see the dislike in flippers, it sucks to see something you want on eBay 10 mins after purchase for twice as much. But that’s the whole game. Bands/Stores use low press counts to get you to click “buy” immediately. Part of the trade off on being first is you have something rare and of value. It’s a fair trade off to me, and don’t see why more places don’t throw up a standard black pressing with no press limitations for those who don’t want to be part of that aspect of vinyl. That way they’ll get to keep their nose up in the air while being “above this whole color vinyl mess”

  28. Yeah they completely changed the terms under which people thought they were ordering--i.e. limited copies/bundles. Say what you will about that making sense from a business standpoint, that's going to upset some folks for sure.

  34. All i ever heard was pretty much the same as the wikipedia entry for Money says: "Bandmates Sascha Konietzko and En Esch had a falling out at the end of their 1990 tour with My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult.[1] Each was given the funds to record one side of their next (and presumed final, at the time) album, Apart.[1] Both worked in the same Hamburg studio, M.O.B., with engineer Blank Fontana and guitarist Günter Schulz, but never interacted with each other directly.[1] These sessions would be the last time the group worked with Fontana at M.O.B. After the two halves were combined and pressed onto an album, Esch's half was rejected by Wax Trax! Records's executives, who didn't think it sounded like KMFDM.[1] The record company gave Konietzko additional funds to record more songs.[1] He finished the album by including new remixes of previously released material.[5] A number of other tracks intended for the album ended up on other albums or singles" I have wanted a copy of this forever. I could see them trying to charge that much if they only had 1 or 2 copies. But i feel like they should be more like $150 since they found so many (but what do i know since they have apparently already sold 6 of them @ $450 each which i find unbelievable). WT used to press around 100 test presses so they probably have many more around since they never got distributed to shops and djs like most of their tests did.

  35. I’ve said this before (you wouldn’t know). instead of starting a new thread and asking your question just start digging through old posts. Kind of like research (you wouldn’t know). there are thousands of forum threads to go through about vinyl just on this site.

  43. There is no shit-flinging to be had here. You may need to recalibrate what your definition of that is, as far as internet arguments are concerned. The closest thing to that, we have here, is a group of onlookers spectating one delusional chimp trying to fling its shit and defend its territory.

  46. And that‘s about the business part in here: make a nice looking variant and another rare one and then one audiophile variant. And eventually there will be at least some customers buying multiple copies. not judging anyone, we all love the hunt for gems for our collection here...
