  1. Verified from a member of the band last night in Lawrence that January is accurate. He said they plan to release two more singles leading up to the release.

  2. Haha, no. I am Jeff. Cory and I have been the sole songwriters since Wrongdoers, before I joined Scottie was another, and he shined with tracks like Deathbed Atheist. We've tried to collar with him on both of the last records for fun but just haven't been able to make it happen schedule-wise. Cory pretty much wrote almost all of O'God by himself, I believe Daniel wrote pretendeavor, though. It'd be super easy to go back and write more chaotic stuff like that or Redeemer, as we both have a background in that type of music but it's just not as fulfilling to us as musicians at this point in time. Kind of a been there done that deal. My musical interest as far as heavy music goes is pretty much solely with bands like Neurosis, Cult Of Luna, Kowloon Walled City, etc etc for the last decade as it's sort of just more where we are as people. At the end of the day we can only write things we enjoy and feel strongly about and never worry about pleasing anyone else or how it compares to past records other than do we like it more, as any other way would be in my mind, business-driven and fake and what not. Can't please everyone, unfortunately haha.

  3. It's that time of the year! October is right around the corner, so we should get the list started now. This year we're going to go down from 30 movies to 13 since a lot of people were falling off midway through the list. If you want to submit a movie just PM me your suggestion! Please try and avoid repeats from the previous years, you can find those lists in the old thread - http://tinyurl.com/gngnz47 10/18 - Trick R Treat (@KingTacoMunster) 10/19 - Southbound ( @Shitty Rambo) 10/20 - The Shining ( @chkadea) 10/21 - Hush (2016)( @marc32137) 10/22 - Night of the Demons ( @museummouth) 10/23 - It Follows ( @Peateargriffin) 10/24 - Housebound ( @themeconspiracy) 10/25 - Feast ( @themeconspiracy) 10/26 - Suck ( @themeconspiracy) 10/27 - Frontier(s) ( @themeconspiracy) 10/28 -Deathgasm ( @themeconspiracy) 10/29 - 13 Sins ( @themeconspiracy) 10/30 - Thirteen Ghosts ( @Shitty Rambo) *if anyone else wants to get on this double+ suggestions will be swapped out*

  6. And Giacchino did a great job I thought with Jurassic World. Gotta say I was kind of bummed that Desplat isn't doing this anymore but I think it'll be alright. I just hope Williams can make it through episodes 8 and 9. Then just rides off into the sunset.

  9. I didn't even say it was good. Mediocre at best. Yeah, Laura great for making a concept record and all, but at this point - I feel AM! is just a cash grab now because of the whole trans thing. Not the AM! I grew up with.

  10. A while I remember her stating that TGDB would be their last album. I wish it was because this album sucks, and her voice sounds like garbage now.

  14. Oh no, I feel you! I get that totally. I think everyone has records and bands like that. I was just being transparent because often times we see funny stuff about how we suck now because somebody who never had much hand in the song writing left the band. But it's way more of a collective effort that feeds off the vibe rather than dictated by anyone person. The songs write themselves so to speak. Just saying our sound or mood for any given record is always very much a conscious decision.

Yeah you just want to buy a tape. You aren't having an extended conversation about why you're more deserving of a copy than anyone else because you've been talking about it on a forum.

  21. Holy shit! Saw Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings last night and Sharon was on fire. Since she is doing chemo, she has her good and bad days. Last night she was feeling good and dancing up a storm. I don't know how a 60 year old woman fighting cancer can go up on a stage for two hours, dance in a sweatbox venue, sing her ass off, and still smile. She makes me feel like a real pussy. I always seem to be really tired the night I go see her and half wish I sold my ticket, until she hits the stage and by the end I am smiling and dancing. If you are able to see her play live, do whatever you can to see her while you still can. She is a living legend and you will be thankful that you had the opportunity to witness her in person.

  22. I've seen them numerous times before, but this show was great! They were given a generous set time at dusk with the sun setting and a lengthy allotment of an hour and twenty minutes, so they got to play pretty much their regular setlist. The new songs sounded good and blended well into the set. I'm sure anyone seeing them on the rest of the tour will enjoy it.

  27. KOTOR II is great. I love Shadows of the Empire too. I'd love to see those get a vinyl release. I adore Williams, but it makes sense to start injecting other composers into the franchise. I'm hoping one day we'll get the rejected Rogue One score from Desplat. He had to have a near-complete score written.

    Shoegaze/Dream Pop Thread

I like early Cheatahs; their new one sounds like an entirely different band. So I shelved it for 6 months, and pulled it out pretending it was not Cheatahs -- it's much better. I'm not sure what you mean by pushing shoegaze forward? There are so many 'undiscovered' or simply lesser known early 90's bands being pressed now (Thank you, Saint Marie and CT), and to hear their nuances of the varying elements of 'shoegaze' is great for those of us not immersed in the scene at that time. There apparently were 00's bands keeping the torch lit, too (ex: Airiel, Asobi Seksu,...) I'm always 10 bands behind on catching up with new 'old' bands. Do you consider the likes of Anne, The Black Ryder, Nothing, Whirr, Death Of Lovers, Iris (RIP), Indoor voices, Modern Charms, We Need Secrets, Stargazer Lillies, Static Daydream. Threading, Venera 4, Wildhoney, P4S and dozens other newgaze bands just copycat or static? Or do you mean like more experimental elements 'pushing it forward' like PSUB which also have the ethereal vocals? I'm not sure what you're looking for? Maybe the same complaint we're seeing in postrock/metal - 'post-postrock' -- a select few bands managing to keep things fresh, adding some different elements and still managing fresh riffs and structure, or merging elements of other genres? Maybe if you consider the noise element of original shoegaze and how Scott Cortez projects... to modern day APTBS "noisegaze", -- is that pushing it forward?' Newer bands put their own signature on it, without being totally copycat, and also create new riffs which are fresh and just as addictive (ex: some Ringo Deathstarr) Or how the dreamy element grew into a TONNE of groups, so dreamgaze is massive - yes some copycats, but still plenty of fresh sounds (ex: Lowtide with male:female bass player-vocalists) Folkgaze? Nocturnes Stonegaze? True Widow Psychgaze? No Joy Dronegaze? 93mmfts Metaldoomambientdronegaze? The Angelic Process, Nadja/Aidan Baker Gloom/doomgaze? HANL, Miserable/King Woman, Ides Of Gemini, Center Of The Sun (rip),etc. ___gaze: fill in the blank I've left so, so many out. This is constantly my world of discovery; I post way too much here for knowing so little, but appreciate all the scouts posting recs.

  34. There's a LOT of fantastic non-Williams Star Wars scores (mostly video game). IF you want to check any out I'd recommend: Knights of the Old Republic (Jeremy Soule) KOTOR II: The Sith Lords (Mark Griskey) *my personal favorite Shadows of the Empire (Joel McNeely) *I mean the novel soundtrack/not the game Battlefront (2015) (Gordy Haab) *hasn't officially been released, but you can find clips on the interwebz The Force Unleashed (1 & 2) (Mark Griskey/Jesse Harlin) Republic Commando (Jesse Harlin)

  36. I would call myself a superfan (whore) so I dug and even bought the clone wars vinyl and rebels pic disc... and lets not talk about John Williams leaving us until we have to. My sister and I went to see the Cleveland Orchestra play a tribute to John Williams last summer and I honestly teared up during the Star Wars medley. They did the entirety of Raiders of The Lost Ark this summer but I was out of town.

  37. Kevin Kiner does all the music for The Clone Wars and Rebels does a nice job. I honestly barely notice its not John Williams. I love Williams but we've got a lot of Stars Wars in store for us and *knock on wood* John Williams IS 84.

  38. FINAL EDIT: managed to get my hands on beacons cd on discogs so this thread is essentially done with unless someone wants to sell some cloudkicker test presses leaving this up incase I get lucky and someone wants to sell a beacons CD otherwise I believe my cloudkicker vinyl variant collection is complete (minus test presses but who counts those other than that one guy I forget the name of that has all but beacons I think) I couldn't be happier with my collection, big thanks to Piky09032 and drds89, I don't think I could've done it without your help ------ greetings I know this is probably a long shot, but it's time for me to attempt to complete my Cloudkicker collection and I've drained discogs of everything available that I was missing I'm predominantly after: Cloudkicker - Let Yourself Be Huge on Coke-Bottle Green vinyl offering $75 USD (seller found and paid, waiting for it to arrive) Cloudkicker - The Discovery on Black vinyl $100 USD (seller found and paid, waiting for it to arrive) I also wouldn't refuse to consider buying any cloudkicker test presses (other than Fade or The Discovery) or Beacons on CD if that even really exists Prices: I'm not looking to waste your or my time, I've almost finished my collection and have upped my prices a little but am still open to negotiation if you do have any of these up for grabs and your ideal price is nowhere near my above estimate I'd like to hear what price you have in mind so I can adjust my expectations. shipping would be to australia preferably (can use US address if need be) and I'd only accept insured the fine print: obviously I'm new to this forum so you're going to be hesitant to deal with me and I'm going to be hesitant to deal with anyone without insane rep, I can't offer much in the way of references other than my ebay feedback which goes back over 10 years http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/zh_kane and my steam account which will only really make sense to you if you're a pc gamer http://steamcommunity.com/id/ZH_Kane/ (feel free to add me on steam to discuss if you want) I've been around long enough to know not to pay for anything as a gift, I'm sorry if that's a dealbreaker for you. I would also be open to buying via discogs or ebay if you were to list it there @ negotiated price + whatever % cut ebay/discogs take from the final price. thanks for reading edit, since creating this thread I've made more progress than I ever thought I would, below is most recent pic, it's missing "live with intronaut" in black which is still in transit just gotta get my coke-bottle green LYBH and black discovery and I'm done
