  2. Ian, I am not normally a griper, but since you're here and I'm unhappy I thought I would mention this. I signed up for Popmarket's Daily Deals newsletter a few weeks ago. Lately I am getting buried in an ever increasing pile of daily emails from you, many of which are not offering a deal or discount at all. I see I received the following from Popmarket this week: 10-24 4 emails 10-25 3 emails 10-26 3 emails 10-27 3 emails 10-28 3 emails 10-29 3 emails Then, to add insult to injury, you are starting to utilize a marketing strategy where I have to click through the email to visit a webpage to see the deal. It's not polite to treat customers this way, and it is disingenuous as well because what you are accomplishing is having people like myself (1) as in the fable 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf', when you send so many emails it becomes simply a blur and I have had my time stolen too many times I simply ignore your mail completely ; and/or (2) block receiving any emails from popmarket entirely.

  3. Saw them tonight in Chicago. Fantastic show. They sounded really, really good. They played everything from both albums but not in order. I actually really enjoyed the new stuff live, more than I expected to. Also hung around and met them and their families after, they're all super nice people. Go see them if you can. Also, Joan of Arc opened. A guy in a banana suit and mask danced around and smushed bananas up in his hands and handed them out to the audience, so there's that.

  5. Wow great deal. Is this for a limited time only? Cause I haven't got my payday yet. I also tried applying coupon code: MOSPOOKYDEALS and it took 10% off further.

  6. Picked up the test pressing from the shop yesterday. By coincidence, I also saw them play a marathon 24 song set last night. The only disappointing thing was no songs from Static Prevails but it was still pretty damn amazing. The show served as a reminder of why I still love this band 20 years after I first saw them, which, surprisingly enough was at the same club as I saw them last night.

  10. I'd love to see you focus now and again on independent labels such as Sub Pop, Merge, Matador, 4AD, Rough Trade, Third Man, etc.

  11. This. I started doing business with Popmarket because I enjoyed the concept of the "daily deal" where there was an item(s) showcased that was truly a great deal, whether I personally would have purchased it or not. In the last several months, it's turned into a spamfest of email where everything is a deal. When *everything* is a deal, then *nothing* is a deal in some cases. Honestly, I can't tell you in most instances because the emails are 1) too frequent and 2) click-bait-y and I tend to delete them right away when they are (yeah, the one the other day with Shaq and the cat "I can haz deal" or whatever comes to mind...no...just...NO). Other than that, I will say that I've spent a LOT of money with PM. There have been a few bumpy times along the way, but their returns/exchanges procedure is top notch when I've gotten damaged/defective vinyl. You don't just get that anywhere and that alone has kept me spending money with PM. My only other wish is for more discount codes.

  18. Damn, they are killing it. I really do hope they press something of theirs soon (Radical $uicide would be great). And I had no clue Ruby had that background, that's cool. And I agree, I love Ruby's flow. I always look forward to his verses.

  19. Enjoy your Sunday folks, I have to "work" today. Still loving the new job and it's moving into full time starting next week, been nothing but praise so far. This has been a good move already, making new friends, family get togethers, and settling in nice at work.

  20. Sorry for the bump (not really) but apparently they played this in its entirety at FEST. I would've just died. Hope someone here was able to witness this thing of beauty.

  21. Saw these guys live 2 nights ago when they opened up for Highly Suspect. Needless to say, they deserved the headlining spot. Highly Suspect went on 30 mins late, played only 9 songs (drunkenly), and then didn't come back out for an encore. Such BS.

  24. My wife and I actually received a picture disc lathe cut 7-inch as a wedding present from none other than Flood (of VC fame). The picture was one of our engagement photos, and the song on it was "The Safety Dance," which was 100% NOT our wedding song but a track my wife loves nonetheless. (Our first dance song was the Weakerthans' "The Reasons," btw.)

  29. It's less about God-tier tastes and more about moving on past the trash that angsty high-schoolers listen to. Really not that difficult to grasp. [edit] I should clarify that my comment pertained to Asking Alexandria and BMTH, in case there was any confusion there. While I couldn't get into I Am King or ever take a few parts of it seriously, I still have a copy of their debut that I don't plan on parting with anytime soon.

  31. I think knowing beforehand that it wasn't happening, and having prepared myself for that, only to have such a dedicated crowd pull them back out on stage made it even sweeter. i thought for sure that there was no way they'd come back out. i figured the chanting would die out and everyone would get the hint after a few minutes with the house lights and music back on. but it just got louder and louder. i've been to a lot of shows and i don't think i've ever seen that happen before. it was just perfect.

  33. Oh man, oh man the show tonight was incredible. I hadn't seen The Appleseed Cast since the LLO tour (first and only time to see them prior to tonight), so it was nice seeing them play other stuff. Lots of Mare Vitalis, which was awesome. They're so so so good. And it was nice not having to suffer through a subpar opening. Boom, right in with the TAC. Setlist: Kilgore Trout Cathedral Rings Here We Are (Family in the Hallways) Sunset Drama King Silas Knife Fishing the Sky Santa Maria Forever Longing the Golden Sunsets Steps and Numbers Caspian. Jesus fucking christ, Caspian. Where to even begin? The last time I had seen them was in 2011 at SXSW, so it's been a while. Loved hearing the stuff from Waking Season--'Gone in B&B' especially is a gut check, because I remember listening to that the day that Chris passed away, and being pretty wrecked by it. I was blown away by the stuff from D&D--it all translated so well. 'Arcs of Command' was so fucking good. I know the cliche is "face melting", but my god that's not an exaggeration. That song ruled. They took a break after 'The Raven', saying that this is the part where they'd leave the stage, pretend they were done, and come back to play more. My other favorite 'Rioseco' right into 'Darkfield' again just blew my mind with their weight and impact. Everything was loud and hard hitting--just unreal. The new song 'Castles High, Marble Bright' was good--better than I thought it'd be, honestly and I thought that was the end of the show. But people in the crowd started chanting "one more song! one more song!" I thought there was absolutely no way that they'd come back out, but after a few minutes, instead of dying out, the chant was actually getting LOUDER, and eventually they came back on the stage. Phil basically said that at the beginning of the tour, they'd all promised themselves that they would only play what they were about to play in very special circumstances. And that this was one of them since the crowd was so amazing. Proceeded to play 'Sycamore'. Blew my fucking mind. I saw it back in 2011, but it didn't mean as much to me then as it did now. And I guess prepping myself/knowing that I wouldn't be seeing it, made them playing it even more special. Had a great time rocking out. Need to not wait 5 years to see them again. Setlist: Waking Season Echo and Abyss Some are White Light Gone in Bloom and Bough Arcs of Command Sad Heart of Mine The Raven Rioseco Darkfield Castles High, Marble Bright Encore: Sycamore.

  36. Or, you could stop ordering records and then an hour later change your mind and cancel. They would be better off not having to deal with "customers" like yourself who can't commit to something they ordered less than an hour ago. The site is great. Create a feature that stops idiots like the one above from ordering so you can focus on more important things and you'll really have something great on your hands

  40. Also 1. What do you think has caused/contributed to the vinyl resurgence and why? The vinyl resurgence can be traced back to the 2012 Record Store Day release of the Disturbed box set. 2. What do vinyl records mean to you? Webster's Dictionary defines "vinyl records" as "an exhaustingly expensive thing to collect that girls aren't actually all that interested in, as it turns out". 3. Do you prefer the visual or aural aspects of vinyl records? Tactile, actually. The feeling of rubbing the grooves against my balls is the best 4. What are the benefits of vinyl records over other formats of music? It's the best way to support my favorite independent labels, like Enjoy the Toons and Newbury Comics.
