As someone who has been both dead broke and well off, I have nothing but empathy for people who are broke and no judgment on how they spend their money. That life can suck really bad and you deal with some predatory BS that zaps up whatever excess energy or cash you have, so I'm in no place to tell someone how to get through it. In my own experience, I've found it one million times easier to save money and spend smart when you have excess money coming in. When I was in my 20s and broke, I spent hundreds of dollars a year on overdraft fees (and balance minimum fees!) that I incurred from spending money on food, records, entertainment, gas, school, basically everything. It'd set me back for months and cause more late payments and more late fees. Since I've been well off, I've paid zero dollars on overdraft fees and I've been able to both save and spend smart. Why? Am I suddenly a responsible moral adult? No. It's just that now, when I make a stupid occasional mistake, there are almost zero consequences. I can accidentally spend too much on something and nothing happens. I can forget to pay something and I can easily afford the late fees. It is so so easy to offer advice like "spend less!", so I get when people say that trying to be helpful, but I have to remember to reject that impulse and instead put myself back in that headspace of being broke and offer empathy rather than admonishment. It really is a racket being broke and if people want to buy records or do things that make life suck a little less, even if it costs them more money, I say go for it.6 points

Video Game OSTs v2.0
Charles Barkley and 2 others reacted to Shelby for a topic
Yep. They also used to post and interact with us. Once that 'L' happened every single person got ignored when asking what went wrong and they stopped pretending to care and just started dumping their press release garbage into a new thread each time never to return to them. They also exclusively pressed movies and TV show soundtracks copying the Mondo model and even pressing sequels to soundtracks they did like The Raid 2 until they saw there was more money in pressing videogame soundtracks. I and my like minded VC brethren won't give in to them until they acknowledge the 'L'. Unless they mock it in some way with this new release then I'll be more annoyed lol.3 points -

I'm gonna wait for a CF pressing to be announced. Can't imagine that there won't be one (or if not that there won't be another US or UK label that does it). Edit: Actually maybe there won't be one. Just seen a repose by Orb on their IG page when asked if there will be a CF pressing for the US they responded "Flightless is now a worldwide force". So we will need to see when order details cone out. Maybe they will have different distribution for US/EU/UK going forward and not ship all from Aus?1 point -

Totally get you here but IMO, for some, the equation can be a little more complex than "make smart financial choice = higher quality of life" or, at least, have other elements that make me less interested in highlighting each poor decision. If someone makes the personal decision that their #1 goal or focus is to achieve a certain level of financial security, above all else, then I definitely think their perspective of eliminating all decisions that lead them away from that goal is right for them. If that isn't someone's main goal, above all else, then I don't know if I can tell them "You should have done X financial decision instead of Y financial decision". I can see how being broke and overdrawn and having some more records is a better life than being less broke and less overdrawn with less records. Not accounting for extremes or outliers, I tend to peace out of moralizing someone's situation and offer my best human-to-human vibes. But, as I said, 100% get you and I do agree with you in many circumstances. To look at it selfishly, in case anyone is thinking I'm pandering or trying to appear selfless or something, part of why I don't indulge the instinct to wade into someone else's financial choices is because I'd simply be wrong. Whatever assessment I made for them, by virtue of me not being them and knowing all the particulars of their life, would most likely be inaccurate. So, "you do you" is also a selfish way to not be wrong.1 point

Urban Outfitters Exclusive Vinyl & Sale Discussion
tetsuodaironman reacted to TheGhostOfRandySavage for a topic
I too was broke when I was younger, and am comfortable now, but while I have empathy for those who are still having trouble making ends meet often it comes down to choices. Even when I was broke I think I overdrew my account one time, and that's because my car needed repair and my rent was due. Records are a luxury item, and if someone really is in it just for the music there are less expensive ways to listen to music than vinyl. Our empathy for that person doesn't excuse the fact that they made a poor decision.1 point -

Yeah. I got a comment about how they received my warped records back and "didn't notice much warping" but I just ignored it and they sent the replacements quickly, so I'm happy. They can say whatever they want as long as they provide replacements/refunds when needed.1 point -
He even uses content from their reviews as part of his opinion after "reporting back". They didn't mention the weak production so that can't be an issue anymore has to be the lack of originality1 point

Hopefully The Process gets a vinyl release eventually but it isn't owned by Nettwerk and I haven't heard any buzz about that happening any time soon. Weapon is really good, definitely the best from the post-Dwayne era, the rest are hit and miss. Live at Doomsday and Live: Bootlegged, Broke And In Solvent Seas are both really good if you like live albums. Ohgr just released a new solo album called Tricks that I highly recommend and his live show this tour has been awesome, it's the best I've seen him and that includes the Skinny Puppy shows I've been to.1 point

That's a shame they're not using the Sean Magee AAA cut, I expect they'd have mentioned it being "cut from tape" if it was AAA. The Analog Spark release is absolutely definitive in my book - but look forward to hearing if someone with both does a comparison. Shame Universal aren't doing a 5.1 Blu-ray with the super deluxe digital physical editions, they're pretty much the best major label for chucking in new surround mixes.1 point

Really wish they'd just do proper deluxe releases with the album and bonus tracks (both this and ToT), spread over 2lp (ideally 4 sides at 45 rpm, but I'd settle for 3 sides and an etched side d) instead of this picture disc bonus track crap. But maybe that's just me?1 point -

the_analog_ear@renobird total remaster or just mastered for Vinyl? renobird@the_analog_ear just properly mastered for vinyl (the original was not). jenkinsmartindrumco@renobird good to hear, but the pressing was the biggest problem before. Lots of surface noise. Extremely excited to listen to a new pressing mastered by Bob. renobird@jenkinsmartindrumco the issue was 2 fold. The mastering didn’t account for bleed between songs, and the pressings that managed to make it out of Counterflow before they folded where inconsistent. I have copies that are perfect and some that are pretty rough. The test pressings were fine. There wasn’t much we could do considering the label was basically done by the time we got copies. The reissue is completely new from the source, and it’s being done at a place that does very HQ work.1 point

[PO] Nothing - Dance On the Blacktop
jeffthomas84 reacted to tetsuodaironman for a topic
I’m reporting back, bros. Listened to the album about 5-6 times and once on vinyl. While the mixing and production sounds weak and muddy to me, most of the songs are wearing on me even if they lack originality. This is definitely one that’s a grower for sure (not unlike my penis). But, ultimately, my verdict is that this album is a definite SLAPPER, but is not as good as ToT for me. I wish they cranked up the bass on the grunge/90s alt-rock jams on this album though. Vinyl doesn’t particularly sound better or worse than the digital tracks either. Also, Pitchfork gave it a 7.1. So they think it’s better than GoE, but not as good as ToT. Slap on, bros!1 point -
