  1. Watch how distraught this guy gets after seeing how different the vinyl looks versus the original mockups.

  2. I really want this guy to become a certified meme on VC. Like the minute you see this cursed image appear in a PO thread, you just know someone received the record and it doesn't quite match the mockup. No further exposition needed.

  3. I look at the original mock-up and see six INFINITY STONES, then I look at the final product and only see a reason to fucking end myself.

  4. “I don’t see... Infinity stone.” If you want to see Infinity stones, watch the movie I guess? I’ve never seen someone so butthurt over pellets. You can actually see this man’s last ounce of hope and ambition leave his body over this. Was the mockup marbled or opaque or something? This release wasn’t for me but I think the end result looks pretty damn cool.

  6. Don gets a pass because I really don't expect him to keep up with (or care) about modern-day internet slang, but how has anyone browsed online over the last 3-4 years and not stumbled across someone using the phrase based?

Explain to me how an a-side can be warped but a b-side is not? Doesn't make sense.

  17. I am still shocked with the amount of collectors that dont own a vinyl flat. For 200 bucks it's a no brainier. Had one for about 5 or so years. Never have to worry about this problem. P.s. I would say the original poster problem is quite common these days. I call it dishing/bowling and its apparent on 1 side and not so much the other

  19. That BV list is tight, and some stuff to check too. After spending 45 min sifting through how this Hum thread veered to Paramore, and then trying to figure out what 'based' meant, had to sign in to +1 my post count haha.

  20. This is gonna be a GD bloodbath, but good on them for putting them up for a set (and relatively reasonable) price instead of the 'Bay. Hope those trying don't have . . . bad timing. https://badtimingrecords.limitedrun.com/products/673629?preview=true Bad Timing Records is seven years old this July, and we're looking back on everything we've released so far. Earlier this year we re-stocked found copies of dozens of old releases in our Vault Release, and now we're moving onto our Test Press Vault. We receive a different number of test presses for every release -- usually 4-15, but sometimes more if we need approvals from extra folks. These then usually sit on a shelf for the rest of their lives, but we recognize their rarity and the desire that people feel to own a super-limited version of a record they love. Rather than stocking them on eBay, which would put the prices at levels that most folks don't want or are not able to pay, we set what we think are reasonable prices ourselves and are releasing them right here in our webstore. We will be donating a portion of the income from this release to bail funds in Philadelphia and Atlanta (where Zack and Thomas live) to support protestors working to end police injustice. Black Lives Matter. So ... now a bit about how this will work. This is a once-only deal. These are all the test presses we have that we can part with. If something sells out on this page, it's gone for good. Please don't email us asking if you can get something that is sold out here -- it's gone. There's a chance that the webstore will accidentally oversell some of these, since we expect demand to be high. If this happens, we will send a refund to whichever order was placed last according to our order page. Each title on this page can only be added to your cart once, you are not able to purchase multiple copies of a single title. The tests will be sent in custom record jackets that we made just for the release of the Test Press Vault, with handwritten artist name, album name and limited quantity. Check out the photos on this page. Test press purchases do not come with a digital download of the corresponding album. In the pressing information portion of the page below, we've outlined every record that we're going to have for sale. When the drop-down menu opens at 2pm EST on Wednesday July 15, the records in the drop-down will be listed in the order that you see below. The listings below include the artist name, release name, the number of tests that were made overall (this is going to be greater than the number of tests we have for sale on this page), the price we will be selling them at, and any other relevant notes that we felt were worth including. Some of these test presses are going on seven years old, so they may not be in perfect playing condition. Tests generally are not meant to be listened to a bunch ... so please be advised that we are not offering refunds on anything purchased from this page due to the condition the record is received in. We've already removed any tests that were noticeably in bad condition. As some of you probably learned in our Vault Release earlier this year, you are not guaranteed a record that is sitting in your cart until you check out and complete payment. We recommend proceeding directly from adding to cart to checking out via PayPal or Stripe if you're going after something you really want. If you go through the purchase flow multiple times, shoot us an email afterward to see if we can combine shipping costs. Want an "It's Available!" Email Notification? 24. Here to check the Gojirah and saw the comments on RTJ... False, Dave is really trying to help you here, and you will not find a nicer dude on these boards. If you just want to collect for collecting's sake or wall display -- that's fine, or play them on a Crosley. FWIW 99.9% of negotiating on prices is done via PM. In cases like this, it is very helpful to learn about new members who are selling/buying. Usually it's the seller who says, "Get off my thread," not the buyer - I think this is a first that I 've seen. Good luck to you.

  25. Just got my two swirls after being refunded for one of them. Funny thing is that I even went through the hassle of complaining to Sandbag that they only refunded the cost of the second record and not the sales tax and they responded saying that they would refund the sales tax as well. LOL

  37. That’s actually untrue. The Discogs listening is wrong. I think someone finally added the right German listing, recently. Look closely to the picture. For whatever reason, they didn’t release this in the US. You’ll, almost, never see someone in the US reselling this record. Great band and you should get everything they’ve put out. But, like Won, some of it is Euro stuff, so a little more expensive second hand.

    Would You Return?

Pretty sure this is the issue. Warped records seem to be happening more and more frequently for me (though not this frequently). Basically, I don't think it's the store's fault.

    Would You Return?

The unfortunate reality of vinyl in 2020 is that it is really hard to get perfect vinyl. A lot of plants will only accept returns from labels if defects affects playablity. I would say a good amount of these are probably like this when the label got them and in turn arrived at the store like this. You say these are new and sealed so stores can't open new vinyl coming in to check them all. The QC problems really go all the way back to the source, QC is a problem but it's a plant issue. I will say the mail is slower now and it is giving vinyl more opportunities to warp in hot trucks as well. I've seen a lot of warped records posted in the Metal and Core Collectors facebook group this summer.

  44. When they did the "Writing the Future" mini-tour closing out the cycle for that album, that song was the encore. Honestly the stage/lighting concept for that show was one of my favorites. It was mostly pretty simple - all white lighting, big wash lights along the back and sides of the stage, simple white spots and profiles, mixing up the lights in cool ways did cool stuff with it. They really told a story just with that really simple lighting concept and it was extremely cool imo. Late in the show it turned out there was a small series of LED lights mounted like vertical sticks - on a mic stand or a stand for one of the wash lights, along the edge of an amp stack so you wouldn't notice, stuff like that. Also all white. They used those in maybe the last 3 songs of the main set and that was it. Then they come out for the encore and do "Future". The only lights are those LED stick lights in white. When it gets to the end of the quiet part, they did it live so all the instruments faded out/stopped while there was this looping thing of just Hayley's voice, the individual LED lights went out one by one, and then the band kicked in and it was color lights for the first time in the whole show. They kept doing some more cool shit with the lights but I thought it was insane how they went white lights only for the entire show until halfway through the encore. They also did the audio fadeout in that song - everyone kept playing but they lowered the volume on everything, so the only thing you could hear was the unamplified drums for a minute, then they kicked everything back and slammed the ending. They did some really cool stuff with the arrangement for that live performance. One of my favorite live show moments ever. I just found this on youtube which gives you a pretty good idea: As if to drive home the point, the first song they played on the PA for filing-out music after the show was Failure's "Another Space Song". Anyway they're big fans of Failure and Hum so even if that doesn't make itself super-obvious all the time, it's definitely in there. This song is probably the only album track where they just dove 150% in that direction.
