There are other girls who like metal. There are other girls who aren't into metal. Some compatibility with music/movies/books/podcasts?/memes? is important, but not as important as some people seem to think. My girlfriend and I can chill and listen to Metal Machine Music or Merzbow. But if I put on like Converge or These Arms are Snakes she rolls her eyes and makes the jerk off motion. She'll still go to shows and get in the pit with me, because it's what I'm into. But the strength of a relationship has nothing to do with liking the same bands. Honestly, it's more important that you hate a lot of the same bands. I've dated a lot of people who liked bands I thought were garbage...but I know I could never be in a relationship with someone who didn't hate Phish. Who I am as a person would not be compatible with someone into that kinda thing. Maybe when she says she doesn't want to be with you she's just lashing out. Maybe it's how she really feels bubbling to the surface. Either way, it doesn't sound healthy for either of you.

I watched it with a friend tonight. Some of the plot threads (mainly the gallery stuff) where a bit useless and I have some other small complaints, but overall I found it to be a fun Friday night movie. I definitely agree that a few tweaks would've been beneficial, some of the dialogue was pretty cheesy. Sunn O))) music being used was a big plus for me and it fit SO well!

This guy (or gal) "reviewed" three record destroying garbage turntables. I feel bad for people who are really looking for answers on picking a turntable and stumble upon some bullshit site like this. They're going to be misled into wasting their money, time, and efforts only to give up on the hobby all together.

I think you're right. Those turntables won't be a huge upgrade from what you currently have. Depending on your system, you're probably better off putting the money into an phono preamp upgrade.

I just feel like Damon let guests take more control of the songs and I can barely hear his presence on the tracks released so far. I am hoping the whole album is more cohesive and maybe the tracks will flow better as a whole and all of the guest feautures aren't too much in the way, but from those songs released already I'm kind of disappointed

Not just Banquet - everyone. Good advice is to avoid Banquet if you can. Yes, they have a lot of stock, but the website grinds to a halt as soon as they go up and I believe (from experience) that they oversell and a lot of orders go unfulfilled. There will be a lot of other options for this - I strongly suspect it won't sell out. BTW, for UK RSD regulars, Norman Records in Leeds are not allowed to particiapte this year as it's been deemed they aren't really a bricks and mortar store (which TBH is true). They hope to get some stock in for the online sales.

Took me about an hour and a half to get through the cash out line! I had my eye on a few things (Scream soundtrack, Pixies record), both which didn't make it until the 50% off sale.

stubhub is where I usually go. Cubs tickets are going to be probably pricey because they just won the WS and are going to be a good team again this year. Seattle tickets... who knows. I havent been to either stadium, but I have never been to a park with bad seats. I would recommend sitting between the basepaths/dugouts, on any level. You usually get the best vantage point of the game from there without breaking the bank. Best seats are behind homeplate on any level. I avoid bleacher seats in the outfield if I can, I prefer to sit looking out at the outfield, not the other way in.

This topic is giving me such a woody. I collected fiercely in the 1990s, in retrospect the best time possible since everybody was dumping LPs. I'd spend $100 or $200 at Jerry's in Pittsburgh or the various stores in Chicago, DC, the East Village, Vancouver, London, San Francisco ... and I'd come away with more LPs than I could carry. Sometimes I had to find a UPS drop-off before I got back on a plane. (There were no UPS Stores back then.) The first of two kids arrived in 1999 and they took most of my time, so I've barely bought any vinyl in the last 15 years. But for her 17th birthday last year the older one got an RP-1 she can take to college ("university" for those outside the US), along with 50 or 60 duplicates from my stash. Seriously, nobody should leave home without Blood on the Tracks and Astral Weeks (green label, natch) at the very least. I've bought a few things here and there when I find nice stuff for less than $25 or even less than $20 per disk. (Seriously? $25 for a single LP? WTH?!) I'm lucky enough to work from home, and we have a semi-finished attic, so the first shot is the view from my desk, and once or twice a day I climb into the chair to listen to one side as a break. Rock and pop is on the left; jazz, blues, and a small batch of classical live on the right. We old guys have a lot of the gems, like the original Art Pepper on the rack to the left above the 'table. Just got the Dying Fetus's yesterday. They look good and sound good too. Not sure about Splatter colored vinyl. I think I like my colored vinyl in solids merges and swirls better. That said, I'll prolly still buy the colored variants before black. Just looks good spinning while listening Although there are a few records out there that just "fit" the album in black vinyl.
