  1. Posted this in the Hypercaffium thread, but thought I would add the picture here too. Only a few things missing and would love some help finding a copy of All on grey from the original '87 color pressing.

  4. Decided to take a picture since all of my copies have shown up. Anyone else notice that the European copies have a matte black cover while the US copies are shiny? While I was at it, I took a copy of my updated Descendents collection. Only a few things missing.

  19. This leaked -- it's quite early too, so I'm fairly surprised. Definitely has elements of all of their past releases; pretty solid upon first listen. I had it on in the background while doing some work. Looking forward to giving it another listen.

  22. I like that latest song. Touche Amore trying to sound like the National is more successful than Ceremony trying to sound like Joy Division. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear more stuff like this from TA. Who the hell wants to try and scream in every song as you get older. I couldn't do it.

  23. You can stream first track 'Ikaros' on this Chinese website I randomly stumbled upon when looking for recent news/articles on the new album http://www.luoo.net/essay/762 I suspect it'll be the first single they release before the album drops. It's also available to pre-order and download on August 30th as a single over on 7digital

  27. This board apparently can't get enough soundtracks. Well, here's the soundtrack to an imaginary film, by a band that is better than your favorite band. Just got a notification for this via Bandcamp, traced it back to the Temporary Residence webstore where it appears this has quietly gone up for sale. Not sure if it's a preorder or not, but there is black & colored vinyl. At the turn of the 21st Century, sandwiched between two of their most iconic albums – Secret Name and Things We Lost In The Fire – Low released The Exit Papers as part of Temporary Residence Ltd.'s long-running CD subscription series, Travels In Constants. A sparse suite of six mostly instrumental pieces composed for a film that never existed, The Exit Papers still stands as Low's most haunting and experimental work. Originally released exclusively on CD in a scarce edition of only 1,000 copies, Low helps celebrate the 20th anniversary of Temporary Residence by finally releasing The Exit Papers on vinyl and all digital formats for the first time ever. https://store.temporaryresidence.com/products/trr276?variant=25666732227 If you've never heard this release, it's really good. Instrumental and moody as hell.

  28. We haven't officially announced anything yet, but we'll be putting our store back online soon with test presses and possibly some deluxe variants, but also we'll be releasing my new band's EP on tape within a month. Download that for free if you like Pavement, Built to Spill, or Weezer (I dunno, you tell me what we sound like): http://www.teencreepswi.bandcamp.com

  31. Just keep in mind that they are in their mid 40s putting out music. That's pretty damn cool, considering the genre / subgenre(s). Being 44, and still putting out music, and performing with a bunch of energy is still pretty rad. Sure, the art direction is bad, but it has been since Shenanigans in my opinion. I don't really even bother to care about that anymore. Sure this song isn't their best, but how can you top the energy of Dookie and the overall energy of the mid 90s. You just can't. Everything they do will be 'different' compared to any of their earlier work. I mean does 1,039 sound exactly like Dookie? Nope, and that was only 3-5 years difference. Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, that was 20+ years ago. People change, bands change, tastes change, view change, sounds change. I'm not saying it deserves an extra star overall because of that or anything, but it's just something to consider. Even if I don't like what they end up putting out, I applaud them for doing their thing, and keeping at it, even if the single is more meh now that I've processed it. Here's to hoping the album is solid. We'll see what happens.

PO Now: Wilco - Star Wars

Already posted this in the vinyl deals thread but thought I would bump this as well so people will see it. I have had this on my want list for awhile since I completely slept on it last year and for this price I jumped on it. Wilco - Star Wars (Autographed) $15 + 5 Shipping using this link If you do not want to use my link you can just manually go to the site which is Huckberry but you will not get the $10 credit towards the album. They also have Schmilco that is signed and comes with a custom slip mat but it is a bit steep imo at $50.

  40. ETID does a lot of these annoying tours but if it that's what it takes to keep them relevant then so be it. Let's face it - a ton of the bands they came up with either faded away or broke up, so the fact they are still chugging away at this pace is commendable. Supporting bands like Beartooth and playing Warped allows them to continuously find younger fans that otherwise may have never discovered them. Just look at Norma Jean - when I saw them on the O' God tour in Philly they played for maybe 150 people. They used to be just as popular as ETID in the early 2000's, in my opinion, but their touring didn't do anything to further their career over the last decade or so. They still put out quality music, but it's not getting to the right ears. ETID could easily pull in a crowd 5 times the size of that if they announced a headlining date in Philly. I could be way off base, but I think that is largely in part to how smart they've been with their touring arrangements.
