  1. Glad everyone is enjoying the album so far. A ton of effort and emotion went into this one, so I really appreciate that many of you have taken the time to listen. If you pre-ordered from DW, look for your order to arrive shortly as they have all shipped. Special thanks to the crew here at DWHQ for working so hard on getting them out the door the last few weeks. If you pre-ordered from KR, I believe they have all shipped already as well. Thanks. -J.

  7. Got my box in from DWRC today and this album is just blowing my mind. Packaging is fantastic and the booklet is a really nice touch. Was extremely, extremely fortunate to be given a Friends and Family variant so many thanks to the Deathwish crew and Jake or whoever determines who is lucky enough to be gifted one of these gems! I honestly jumped in the air and squealed like a little kid when I realized what it was!

  9. Pretty good. My clear copy sounds great at least. I think I was just hoping for some more progression from the last album to this one, especially after the calls of AOTY in this thread. Solid album, but I think it got overhyped for me and I was expecting too much. I think that Sprained Ankle seems raw, and honest, and this album comes off more as kind of...whiny? It just doesn't have the same urgency, or pleading tone.

  10. Those prices are bullshit (for everyone who bought them off of the store).

  11. I may love films. But I do not love these prices. I'll wait a year and buy a standard cyan copy for cheaper.

  13. This record seems to be second only to the Plain pressing of Loveless in the ranking of Pressings That Dorks On The Internet Love To Complain About Unprompted. I play my copy semi-regularly, and yeah, there's a little more surface noise than average, but come on, people. Seems like one of those things that probably originated as a single post on r/vinyl and nerds everywhere decided that it was their opinion, too.

  17. I have the regular pressing and never had any issues with it. Sure, probably not the greatest sounding record I own, but definitely no defects or artifacts. If this reissue has issues I doubt you'll have any trouble selling it to someone else.

  23. Congrats on that. Feel free to post a photo for the rest of us to jealously ogle, if you get the time. I've only given the album one listen, earlier today, but I have to say that it's even better than my lofty expectations were set at. All this talk of the stellar packaging and hefty booklet have me extra excited for my copy to show up, too.

  24. The only reason I clicked on this thread was because I remember my college roommates and I hovering around my desktop as freshman watching the music video to this hoping we’d see some panty action when her skirt flipped up. We unknowingly would later see full frontal when she lost her shit, shaved her head, and had her crotch immortalized by the paparazzi while exiting a vehicle. carry on.

  25. Phew, managed to cop an orange variant from Discogs at a regular price, since KRM cancelled my yellow. From a domestic seller, too! Bringing the total to less than I originally paid to KRM.

  27. Hey man, get out of here with your logical reasoning. This is a VC for crying out loud.

  28. You're describing your own approach to adding information to a database but I think it's different than the one Discogs has chosen and enforces. It looks like people do often add information however they think is best but then it gets removed or edited to fit the official rules. I don't know that there's a way to effectively circumvent that moderation.

  33. I totally agree with the ridiculous boxset, although I've come to expect this. Wild Hunt had the same type of setup, although it was a 2xLP. Watain could take a dump in a box and I'd still probably buy it. I'm thinking since this album is a little shorter, they've packed a little bit more punch in this record.

  34. Same here. My copy sounds fine. Definitely not one.of my best sounding records, but it seems to fit the sound of the overall album quite well.

  38. New one for anyone with some spare time: I don't know that I've ever listened to an album that sounds so much like a mash-up of post-rock/noise bands at polar opposite ends of the spectrum. Tracks 1 and 2 sound like vintage Godspeed, circa Skinny Fists and Yanqui. All of a sudden track 3 comes on and the first five minutes feel like I just pulled a B-side from Saxon Shore's latest, until it collapses in chaos, ushering in "Roads:" a swirling, apocalyptic concoction of distortion and percussion not unlike Year of No Light or familiar "Piss Crowns" from Godspeed's Asunder. The last two songs bring the album full-circle; "Gathering Clouds" brings back the old-school Godspeed goodness with hints of Mono shining through, while "Parting Hymns" is a largely upbeat finale with chimes and guitar loops that reminder me of Do Make Say Think, although that may perhaps be more my initial reaction than from any actual likeness. Highly recommended.

  43. I've been using Kiwi shoe polish for years with no issue. They have a few different colors but I prefer black so I don't compromise the integrity of the vinyl

  44. I listened to Frames last year, really liked it, then got distracted with other artists and completely forgot about it. On that note, I'm glad this is happening because it's a reminder and an excuse to listen to it again & go through the rest of their discog. Also, I think "Commemorative 9/11 T-Shirt" is one of the best song names I've ever heard.
