  1. As shitty as that is, I'm grateful that the moderators had the decency to ban him, and I quite enjoy not having to read his posts. I also like to imagine him staring longingly at this thread while shivering on the outside, in the same irrelevant isolation as the bots and guests who can't be bothered to register. I'm confident he's still frequenting this thread on the off-chance a mystery batch will pop up, allowing him to grab a few more to flip. That being said – hi, Halo 2. Just wanted to remind you that you're a shitty tryhard dork of a pasty white kid, and your terrible tastes and ethics are a byproduct of the fact your parents never loved you. Happy holida[aayy]ys.

  3. Point 1. Haha! Point 2. Exactly. For the record, there are non-black color variants that I AM fond of. But I find most color variants to be over the top and annoying looking. I also hate that there are records that are released in more than 4 variants and nowhere in there could they fit a black one. I also think that pressing on 180g and higher is an irresponsible waste of materials. I like many of the albums that they have exclusives for. I just don't like their tactic and I like even less that it works so well.

  8. To my ears, they are not bad, but nothing stands out as unique or worthy of owning vinyl. Certainly better than 98% of the musical universe, but... milquetoast postrock 3-4/10. How did Lost In Kiev get dragged into a Pray For Sound thread??? Except to say there is a polarity of like vs dislike of the music by postrock fans, which is the total subjectivity of muscial taste to begin with. I don't see them anywhere near each other in the postrock spectrum re: sound. Nuit Noire has reached 8.5/10 for sure, while pg.lost has sort of stalled around 7.5-8/10. This is about my threshold for purchasing vinyl in the past couple of years.

  10. So it started with the idea of just us dudes auctioning off our own personal records for charity but quickly morphed into other labels wanting to get involved since it's all for a good cause. Recordnerdz first official charity auction! All proceeds will go to Planned Parenthood. Rare records and test pressings from Fugazi, Jimmy Eat World, Sun Kil Moon and a lot more. . Special thanks to the bands and labels who donated some great stuff. http://bit.ly/RecordNerdz

  11. To be fair you basically hate all colored vinyl, McPherson. That's like your VC shtick. But yeah, Newbury is all about annoyingly charging steep prices for a colored variant of records that are readily available for cheap, and this is no exception. I actually imported a colored variant of this same album over a year ago, and even with international shipping it was cheaper than NC's base price.

  14. To be fair, the discogs prices for the EP are hardly "inflated." I was expecting different when I clicked the link. The markup after shipping paid for the PO isn't even $10.

  15. Who cares what people decide to do with their own copies on another site? They wanted a copy when they were available, had the funds, bought it, and for some reason when the pre-order finally arrived (yes, it was a couple months, not an insta-buy) they decided they would like to sell it (for idk, maybe xmas presents? medical expenses? who knows?) so what? might as well start pointing fingers at everyone on discogs selling anything limited that was released recently (or all-time for that matter) because fuck them and what ever is happening in their lives, right? survive/stranger things are hyped to shit right now if anyone hasn't already noticed and this repress probably wouldn't exist without that rise in popularity. yea, it wasn't a lot of copies to go around but you can't jump to grabbing pitchforks when people/shops don't sell records to you and/or your friends, directly, at absolute retail pricing, after it is sold out and in relatively high demand. It would be nice and sometimes it does happen, but unfortunately that is not the world we currently live in.

  29. I have no complaints with private sellers selling things for that they are worth. In this particular case i just found it astonishing how many of them were already for sale. I don't recall the last time i've seen nearly a quarter of a records stock for sale within weeks of release. I'm sure some a few are from a people who just didn't like the record or need holiday cash. And they will get what they paid for it back which is great. But a lot of these are from the flipper population that silently stalks around here trying to make a quick buck. And they are barely breaking even off of these after fees which is even better.

Top 10 Live Sets of 2016

Florence & the Machine was my favorite show of the year. She is fucking amazing live. Sleepmakeswaves was number 2, even though they were an opener. They destroyed the stage in just 4-5 songs. Owel is number 3. Maybe the most personalized show ever. Only like 5 people there knew them, & I, my brother & wife were 3 of the 5. They shouted me out & let me pick a song. Plus got to hear a new song. Then we drank with Jay. Maybe this was number 1 lol.

  34. I have a brand new Ortofon 2M Red cartridge that's never been removed from its box. It was sent direct from the factory to replace one that was dislodged on a turntable I bought. Long story short, I replaced the cartridge before this one arrived and have no use for it. Asking for $85 ($99 on amazon). PM if interested.

  38. I would personally keep at least one probably all of my "original" pressings since I would enjoy revisiting that classic mix we're all used to – and also because I have a problem – but there's no denying that I'd go balls deep on a proper rerecording or miraculous remaster. It speaks volumes that most of us are still gushing over an album that's nearly 8 years old, but I think that's a testament to how powerful the songwriting is over the production quality. (Which isn't atrocious... it could just be so much better.) The idea of being able to hop back and forth between current Tertia and a 2019 Tertia that's on the same production scale as Dust & Disquiet is a delightful thought to consider.

  40. I went to Waterloo when I was in town for South By a few years ago. Pretty cool place. Grabbed St. Vincent self-titled (after seeing her at the NPR showcase the night before and not having her new album on wax yet). Beck's Guero and this awesome third man records slipmat that's still on my TT. Wasn't able to check out any shops when I was in town, but I'll hopefully be back for SX this year so I'll definitely be hitting up the other shops while in town. http://s2.photobucket.com/user/XbigcX187/media/photo_zpsb8e91124.jpg.html

  43. Accepted. Here is the before pic, which we already established was graciously send by chkadea. This was out of control. The after.... Whores - Gold 12" - Gold/Purple Swirl --- I have heard good things about this record, but had not listened to before. It rules. I really dig it. I think it might be sold out at the moment. Thus, glad i am glad to have a copy. Thanks! UXO - S/T 12" - White --- This is the new band by Chris and and Steve from Unsane and Today is the Day, respectively. It is also loud, abrasive and good. Coquettish - Total Pops Madness 7" - Tests Press --- This is from a japanese ska punk band. I was unfamiliar with them. Will have to give this some spins. Andes Peppermint Crunch Thins --- I love peppermint bark. I am crushing them as I type. The Emerald Mile --- It says the story is epic and looks intriguing. Next on my list. Star Wars Lego Wookie Gunship --- After typing this out I am going to put it together. I love me some star wars. I am actually listening to the Catalyst book (Rouge One Prequel) as i type. Broomstick Strawberry Gunpowder Green Tea --- My wife was eyeing this up. She is a tea junkie. I hope to get a cup in soon. Sun art paper --- Looks fun. I hope to send some friends my sun burned bird. Ren & Stimpy comic --- Always a good time. Nothing beats the episode where Stimpy loses his fart. Camping Clothes Line --- This looks useful. I plan to try it out once we thaw out. Swedish Dish Cloth -- I do a lot of dishes. My wife does few. I will put this to good use. Moosey X-mas Ornaments --- Already on the tree. 2 CD mixes --- Some sweet tunes on here: Bad Brains, Tom Waits, Murder by Death, Robert Johnson, Lera Lynn, Joy Division, etc. It goes without saying, chkadea did an awesome job. Thank you so much!! In appreciation here is another pic of the foster kitties.
