  1. As shitty as that is, I'm grateful that the moderators had the decency to ban him, and I quite enjoy not having to read his posts. I also like to imagine him staring longingly at this thread while shivering on the outside, in the same irrelevant isolation as the bots and guests who can't be bothered to register. I'm confident he's still frequenting this thread on the off-chance a mystery batch will pop up, allowing him to grab a few more to flip. That being said – hi, Halo 2. Just wanted to remind you that you're a shitty tryhard dork of a pasty white kid, and your terrible tastes and ethics are a byproduct of the fact your parents never loved you. Happy holida[aayy]ys.

  3. Point 1. Haha! Point 2. Exactly. For the record, there are non-black color variants that I AM fond of. But I find most color variants to be over the top and annoying looking. I also hate that there are records that are released in more than 4 variants and nowhere in there could they fit a black one. I also think that pressing on 180g and higher is an irresponsible waste of materials. I like many of the albums that they have exclusives for. I just don't like their tactic and I like even less that it works so well.

  8. To my ears, they are not bad, but nothing stands out as unique or worthy of owning vinyl. Certainly better than 98% of the musical universe, but... milquetoast postrock 3-4/10. How did Lost In Kiev get dragged into a Pray For Sound thread??? Except to say there is a polarity of like vs dislike of the music by postrock fans, which is the total subjectivity of muscial taste to begin with. I don't see them anywhere near each other in the postrock spectrum re: sound. Nuit Noire has reached 8.5/10 for sure, while pg.lost has sort of stalled around 7.5-8/10. This is about my threshold for purchasing vinyl in the past couple of years.

  10. So it started with the idea of just us dudes auctioning off our own personal records for charity but quickly morphed into other labels wanting to get involved since it's all for a good cause. Recordnerdz first official charity auction! All proceeds will go to Planned Parenthood. Rare records and test pressings from Fugazi, Jimmy Eat World, Sun Kil Moon and a lot more. . Special thanks to the bands and labels who donated some great stuff. http://bit.ly/RecordNerdz

  11. To be fair you basically hate all colored vinyl, McPherson. That's like your VC shtick. But yeah, Newbury is all about annoyingly charging steep prices for a colored variant of records that are readily available for cheap, and this is no exception. I actually imported a colored variant of this same album over a year ago, and even with international shipping it was cheaper than NC's base price.

  14. To be fair, the discogs prices for the EP are hardly "inflated." I was expecting different when I clicked the link. The markup after shipping paid for the PO isn't even $10.

  15. Who cares what people decide to do with their own copies on another site? They wanted a copy when they were available, had the funds, bought it, and for some reason when the pre-order finally arrived (yes, it was a couple months, not an insta-buy) they decided they would like to sell it (for idk, maybe xmas presents? medical expenses? who knows?) so what? might as well start pointing fingers at everyone on discogs selling anything limited that was released recently (or all-time for that matter) because fuck them and what ever is happening in their lives, right? survive/stranger things are hyped to shit right now if anyone hasn't already noticed and this repress probably wouldn't exist without that rise in popularity. yea, it wasn't a lot of copies to go around but you can't jump to grabbing pitchforks when people/shops don't sell records to you and/or your friends, directly, at absolute retail pricing, after it is sold out and in relatively high demand. It would be nice and sometimes it does happen, but unfortunately that is not the world we currently live in.

  20. I do love me some BSBD, but I can't get into anything that they have artists perform over. Getting lost in the hazy soundscapes of NOIR is something magical, and I guess it's just spoiled me – I feel like vocal deliveries are such a distraction on top of their music. Stoked for those who are stoked on this, though.

  21. ITTCT is embarrassingly high, but outside of that I spy a lot of stellar picks on that list. On the subject of lists, the lady forwarded this list to me the other day – and pointed out that some of the comments were quick to point out a lack of Caspian – but I thought it was an interesting read. I feel like it's a little more favorable of late 90 and early 00 acts, but still good stuff.

  28. I feel you on leaving, I need out of Ohio. Still looking at Austin and Portland. It took me around a year to find a job, mainly because this area is dead though. There is not much left here. I love making my house mine, but I never got around to the kitchen or bathroom, and they are old and generic. I need to redo them a bit to entice buyers. Hopefully it'll that'll help fetch a higher price, since house in the area have been selling like crazy for over twice what I paid for mine. Be a nice little profit if I can get close to that.

  33. I have no complaints with private sellers selling things for that they are worth. In this particular case i just found it astonishing how many of them were already for sale. I don't recall the last time i've seen nearly a quarter of a records stock for sale within weeks of release. I'm sure some a few are from a people who just didn't like the record or need holiday cash. And they will get what they paid for it back which is great. But a lot of these are from the flipper population that silently stalks around here trying to make a quick buck. And they are barely breaking even off of these after fees which is even better.

Top 10 Live Sets of 2016

Florence & the Machine was my favorite show of the year. She is fucking amazing live. Sleepmakeswaves was number 2, even though they were an opener. They destroyed the stage in just 4-5 songs. Owel is number 3. Maybe the most personalized show ever. Only like 5 people there knew them, & I, my brother & wife were 3 of the 5. They shouted me out & let me pick a song. Plus got to hear a new song. Then we drank with Jay. Maybe this was number 1 lol.

  39. My buddy asked me to come over on Monday to split the 2010 Founders Nemesis that I gave him six years ago. When I bought the four pack in 2010 I gave one to him because he always looked out for me on the beer front and we split one that night. The third bottle I drank a year later and the last bottle I drank with three buddies the night they arrived in town for my wedding (at 4am). At least I'd thought it was the last one until Monday night. Unfortunately it didn't taste quite as good at 6 years as it did at 3. He greeted me with an aged Christmas Bomb and then he proceeded to convince my wife and I to take 22 bottles of beer that was between 4 and 1 year(s) old, which took some convincing. He was insistent that I not only take it, but drink it because with them moving out of their old place and being in an apartment temporarily until buying a new house they just didn't have room for it. It wasn't until I was clear that I was only holding it until he could split it at my house that I took it. It was about a third of what he'd been cellaring and we were "slaying white whales" (his words, ha ha) all night. Other stuff he sent me home with: Founders KBS 2013 & 2014 (I have a 2012 at home, so we'll probably split those back to back to back some day) Goose Island Bourbon Country 2013, 2014 and 2015x2 Dogfish Head Bitches Brew 2012 (to split and listen to his copy of later) Brooklyn Old Fashioned (not sure of the year) Epic Big Bad Baptist (not sure of year) Olde Hickory Event Horizon 2012 Stone Imperial Russian Stout 2013 Cambridge Brew Co you Enjoy My Stout (not sure of year) A couple of Blue Point Test Brews (never seen something like this before. Generic labels with stamped names for the brews... maybe never available commercially? BP Pilz and Blueberry Seltzer) A Troegs Barleywine An aged Stone Xocoveza Brooklyn Monster Ale 2012x3 A 2014 Founders Backwoods Bastard Was going to include pics, but the site is not seeming to want to let me.
