  1. Spent the last couple days remodeling my office / record listening / storage area. Still a couple smaller things to do, like waiting for my 7" wooden boxes, new speakers and a couple more frames to arrive, but this is pretty much it. vis à vis:

  5. While I'm sure this record will be great, here's the really exciting news — through their new label, Cursive will be reissuing all of their records, starting with Such Blinding Stars For Starving Eyes and Storms Of Early Summer: Semantics Of Song, later this year. FINALLY, those first two albums will be back in print on vinyl!

  15. If you dont include all the other stuff its like 20 bucks a record. Considering it has many records that were never pressed and the cost of LPs these days its pretty fair. That accordian box probably cost like 15-20 to make alone.

He give so little of a shit that it infuriates him and eats away at his very innards that some of us would be so naive as to think he actually gives a shit, so he continually monitors the board to make sure no one has mistakenly pointed out that perhaps he does give a shit, all the quicker to strike back and reiterate that he clearly could not give less of a shit.

  24. it's a shame i missed out on the gold. however, i'm going to get the black matte version, copy it to a blank bathtub-white colored cassette of my choosing, slice my finger open with a knife, drip my own blood on the bathtub-white colored cassette copy that i just made and watch the blood dry while listening to the black matte version i purchased. then i'll have the coolest, most-limited version of this pressing.

  25. Not sure why I can't add text to the above message. Anyway. Do I really have to give back my card when I plugging in a $2000 turntable and $1000 preamp into it? Actually, that might make it worse. Nevermind.

  29. I recall hearing that TNBD album a few years back and thinking it was decent. Definitely has some really solid moments – enough to keep around in my library this whole time – but as a whole I wasn't completely floored. I should revisit it. Agreed with Don's description, too.

  30. He actually did state on ETS that the 24-bit downloads are the masters being used for vinyl. The only changes they will go through at the cutting house (the pressing house is unlikely doing the lacquers, Hesitation Marks was cut by Chris Bellman and pressed at crappy URP) would be things like making the low end mono, de-essing, things that make the record playable. Their goal is to match the master they're sent as accurately as possible. Have you downloaded the multitracks for Year Zero? Listening to a recompiled In This Twilight with the same dynamics as the 1989 CD of Pretty Hate Machine cranked up on a good system is pretty awesome. This is what's frustrating about Trent, he has so much cool shit going on like appreciating surround sound (releasing The Social Network score as a 5.1 high resolution Blu-ray, who else does that? Hardly anyone!), dropping unmastered fully dynamic multitracks to two entire albums as well as a bunch of other stuff (Jane's Addiction Chip Away/Whores) - I can't even count on one hand how many times I've heard that happen, instrumentals, fighting like hell for fans to get the best tickets to show with their names on them scalper-free and calling out TM/LN at the same time (shame they deleted the forums where his post was), insanely brilliant live shows, doing two masterings (HM, even if the audiophile one turned out to be a big disappointment), dumping 400GB raw live footage via torrents, but then eviscerates the dynamics of Broken and calls it definitive! Has his hearing gone the way of Rick Rubin's? I don't know, I'm not his audiologist, lol. In a perfect world they'd have released the DRminusinfinity version of Broken as a 16-bit download and done a nice new fully dynamic remastering for 24/96 version. You don't, and if you do you're doing it wrong, listen to 24/96 while jumping around at the gym, you do listen to 24/96 on your main system designed around maximum playback fidelity.

  31. I'd love to see Quietly get pressed (CD tracklist). I also would love a PfB compilation 2xLP or something. I have the bulk of his tapes, but it would be hard to beat the convenience of having all those songs in one place.

  38. hiiii sorry i'm a jerk! sorry this is so late! i've had a lot going on the past few weeks and didn't have a chance to sit down and get this all written up. even now i'm super exhausted and up way later than i should be. hopefully my ramblings below are semi-sensical. anyhow! here we go! there was a lovely note with a lovely tree drawing (although i might have to fight you over that wonder years dig ) -Menzingers - Rented World -Menzingers - On the Impossible Past -Menzingers - On the Possible Past -Brand New - Daisy -Captain, We're Sinking - The Future is Cancelled (special guest cameo by Jäger. he was not part of the SS package.) ok so Menzingers is a band that i somehow slept on/never really listened to until recently. my friends are all huge fans and were going ape shit over seeing them play at Fest (especially the OTIP set). having never really listened to them and having bands i really love playing at the same time, i wound up skipping most of their sets at Fest. started listening to them a bit afterwards though and wound up going with all my friends to see them play a small club show in brooklyn thanksgiving weekend (which i would much prefer to seeing them at a huge outdoor stage anyhow). for some bands seeing them live is what really sells me on them and def was the case with them. was such a great show. Menzingers has been my go-to Pandora station the past couple months but hadnt pulled the trigger on buying any vinyl yet so super stoked on these! spun them all while cooking dinner last night and fully jammed out. seriously. such an awesome show. i actually just bought tix today to go see them again in march when they play here. will be a much bigger venue but a ton of friends are going and some even traveling from other states for it so super pumped! def going to be spinning my new Menzos records a whole bunch between now and then sooooo...i actually did already have Daisy but no worries. i will make sure i find a happy home and i appreciate the thought that went into it (even if i strongly disagree with it being their “best” album haha ) i LOVE captain. i first discovered them a couple years ago when they opened for Hostage Calm's farewell show here (RIP ). great band. great album. had no idea about the Menzingers connection though so that was a fun fact to learn! i'm always fascinated by the interconnectedness of bands and side projects and back stories so was surprised i never knew it was Greg's brother. pretty neat! there wasn't really much to go off of clue-wise. but the note did make a point of mentioning that Captain is a Scranton-based band and i remember @curator and @shadowkid33 talking about going to the Menzingers show in Scranton...but since @curator also got Rented World for SS (fist bump) and said he didnt own it...i'm going with Connor! thanks so much dude! really appreciate all the thought you put into this. def lmk if you're ever out this way! i owe you a hug and/or a beer oh. and random side note. i love Broadway Calls and was stoked to see them play at High Dive during Fest. one of my favorite Fest moments was watching Greg from the Menzingers up front and center rocking out and singing along to all of their songs and having the time of his life. was straight up the most heartwarmingly adorable thing ever.

  39. Hi, I bought I vinyl from a bandcamp a while back. I received the record this week and try to play it. The face A works perfectly fine but when I tried to play the second part, the vinyle won't spin. I made a video to show you what is happening. A side (working): https://streamable.com/r4g5g B side (not working): https://streamable.com/nxasa Is there a way I can fix this?

  43. Man, believe me, it drives me insane. The rug itself just was made that way, I guess who/whatever sewed it did it crooked. It was the first thing i noticed when I took it out of the package. It doesn't bother me when Im sitting here and listening though and that's all that matters to me. However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking for a new, pattern-less rug to replace it already.

  44. This looks great! The rug is throwing me off a bit though. It's the same pattern as in the movie The Shining, which is fantastic! The left side of the pattern seems to line up perfectly on the end, but the right of the pattern is skewed and doesn't line up....what's going on there?
