  1. One could argue that trading any type of legal tender (even a single penny) for the Space Jam soundtrack is a rip off.

  2. Definitely worth starting a thread over

  3. Personally I like to flip the dumb shit that idiots will pay double for. Like Space Jam.

  5. You do realize that the Used CD is avail for about .25 cents. You would essentially be listening to the same thing with surface noise

  6. Seriously, have you watched Space Jam as an adult? I get the nostalgia people (including myself) feel towards it and the soundtrack. I probably wore out the cassette. I had posters and merch as a kid. But the movie is seriously just bad. There's no joy in it. It's not even a fun kind of bad. I'm sure the soundtrack holds up way better than the film though.

  7. I loved Space Jam when I was like 8 or whatever. Loved the soundtrack too. As an adult I can say for certain that the movie fucking sucked and has no redeeming qualities. Not even the weird Bill Murray cameo. This release isn't for record collectors. It's for people who share "only true 90s kids..." memes on facebook and buy those shitty tv soundtracks that Enjoy the Ride puts out.

    Space Jam RSD Flippers

Blows my mind that people have paid $100 or even $50 for any copy. To the folks excited about this, is it the mid-90s R&B or the nostalgia factor that make this so appealing? Did this movie really mean that much to people? Are there that many record collectors trying to fill in their R. Kelly, Seal, and Quad City DJs collections? I guess I figured more people would be talking about the Blade Runner reissue than this.

  9. a space jam flipper sounds confusing yet tasty. I generally like strawberry but i like to try different things, I'm quite the foodie. I'm in, I'll pay 50 for that.

  12. I find this is one of the only threads I have interest to contribute to. Picked this up from a pal who is a dealer needing to unload some stuff. Killer funk from a NO singer, Willie West. Both sides are great:

  14. Exactly so when you can't tell you shouldn't use it. Glad we had this talk. I do have to laugh that there are people saying "original gangster" in their head when they read it though. I don't think my brain has ever associated the two. Do you guys think "post office" whenever anyone types "PO" as well?
    2 points
  15. Nah. OP is infinitely more popular and widely accepted than OG – basically any message board since the beginning of time will reference OPs. Hell, there are entire memes centered around OPs and their sexual orientation / mothers. It is what it is. Even if there was a benefit to changing them, I think it's far too late to revise the use of OG or OP on these boards. Or any board, for that matter. OP is OP.

  17. I would think OP would be a better abbreviation for original pressing.

  18. I never saw OG before posting here, but I've seen it around a bunch since. It's the stupidist descriptor though.

  21. I do love this thread, a great breakup from the other typical threads here. I like the focus on older music that isn't dad rock, it's rare on VC Found an awesome copy of Syl Johnson "Total Explosion" on Hi for $12 a little while back, I think that was my only killer score in these genres as of late but I just spun it again this morning, what a great album love his take on "Take Me To The River"

  22. Yeah, super nervous about my Amazon UK order now. What are they chances they upped packaging for international orders?

  30. It is. That's what most of the record commenity uses. Its also what I see on the price tags at my local shops. (I also see "Org") "OG" is a term I think the younger community uses mostly, along with "vinyl". (Not meant as a dig at anyone, just an observation) [EDIT: The word "vinyl" above should have an "s" on the end, but the sites edited it out.] OG should be reserved for gangster rap and weed strains.

  34. Ditto, always associated 'OG' with 'Original' (yes, yes, I know it means Original Gangster). I've seen it used many other places, and long before VC as well. VC uses it a lot, but we didn't start it. EDIT: Just noticed I even use it in my sig, haha

  42. 2 of the 4 tracks I really like, the other 2 aren't bad, but I end up just listening to one side. "You bring the sandwiches; I'll bring the neediness." Great emo verse!

  43. Been a huge Gorillaz fan for 16 years now and after spinning this for a week I will officially say Im let down. I should have known better too after listening to Plastic Beach. That was the downfall of Gorillaz. First two LPs are great and I even enjoy G Sides and Demon Days outtakes and The Fall. This was a surprise to me too because the five singles they released before hand were excellent. But the rest is garbage. Sex Murder Party, Money, and Blue are cringe worthy. The rest is just filler. Happy I didn’t pre-order this and happy I didn’t grab tickets to their Philly show this summer. Luckily I got to see gorillaz twice in 2010 and that was enough. Only thing better than that (goirllaz related) was seeing Deltron 3030 live. Now that was an experience and they even closed with Clint Eastwood.
