Teenage Engineering makes really cool shit and knows audio (maker of various synths and speaker systems, ex-employees of Elektron, another awesome synth/sampler/etc maker. very good and generally pretty expensive). I don't know how much they know about turntables, if that's actually going to happen, but I trust them to not link themselves to garbage.

  5. Just to clarify; this is a weak ROTM pick because you overplayed it and burnt yourself out on it back in the day? Just want to make sure I'm interpreting this post correctly.

  7. Welcome to the community! I found this place on a friend's recommendation, and while I don't post that often, I enjoy finding out about new releases and good deals through here. Also, there's a lot of good knowledge about setups here and things like that.

  8. You might want to email info just to make sure. I'm not sure how it works now but it used to be if you signed up after the 15th you would get the next month's album as your first one. I know a lot has changed with them since then, but when I signed up for MMJ it said I was getting Badbadnotgood as my first one. I emailed them to find out and they said MMJ would be my first one.

  11. Hi All, Chris from Hot Wax, just wanted to drop a quick update here for you guys. I've dispatched all UK orders for just Milk and Honey, this was mainly just to be productive whilst waiting on the boxes with the added bonus of getting some out very early. I have spent what feels like an eternity assembling the boxes and bagging the LP & Extras in two seperate resealable poly bags, this was an additional step I added but I think its going to be worthwhile. All of the LP's came from the plant in the sleeves too so I wanted to take them out and secure them in a poly behind the sleeve to ensure safe transport to everyone. I hand numbered and re packaged them all over the weekend so I can get them to the distributer this week and from there all remaining orders will be heading out - All of the remaining Milk & Honey orders will also be going to the distributer and I fully expect all will be shipped by the end of the month - In line with the initil estimate. You will all get a notification via your chosen method email/text when your order is dispatched, thanks for all the patience I can't wait to see these puppies landing worldwide. :-)

  16. Most months they at least try to make it interesting. A long out of press classic here, a remastered and reissued under the radar indie there, not to mention some crazy stuff completely out of left field on occasion. AM, to me, epitomizes everything wrong and boring with “indie” music of the last two decades. Should’ve been left to the dustbin of music history. Maybe it’s a harsh and unpopular opinion but it’s just not for me. I know they’re catering to a specific crowd and this ticks all the boxes but I just find it to be a very plain pick. Plus it’s easily available, slapping a new color on it doesn’t make it a required album to own. To each their own though. One of the things I like most about this forum is people don’t tend to shit on artists they don’t care for. I just think it could be a more interesting pick.

  21. what's a "white" version? clear with white splatter? because that's what i got. i should've heeded the warnings. this is by far the worst-goddamn-sounding vinyl i own. almost certain i could copy the cd to cassette, copy the cassette to an 8-track, and cut a lathe from the 8-track and it'd still sound better

  27. I really don't know much about vaporwave, but from what I've listened to, it's growing on me. I feel like 2814 is a lot of hype, but maybe I need to listen more(I did and I was wrong.. BTW, according to bandcamp, HKE - HK lp down to 17 copies). I ended up buying Spring Rain by Daniel Saylor. I like that it's not only electronics. I really didn't need another music genre to eat up money, but here we go.

  29. Did you listen to Exploding Head and their S/T, or just Worship (the latter is just avg. to me, whereas their first two are probably my favorites in the noisegaze, besides Scott Cortez's projects. Maybe most accessible and alternative radio-possible)

  36. Let’s face it, no one who’s been looking forward to Blue Sky Noise actually wanted it to be an RSD release in any capacity. I’ve almost paid hundreds for it multiple times but I still wasn’t waking up at 4am to freeze my dick off for it.

  37. also no free shit, but for $12 for 2 LPs that's a deal in itself. I remember being broke and not being able to drop it on the formlessness/kexp bundle so I'm glad I finally got them. That splatter is seriously dope looking on formlessness, going to spin tonight

  40. It was a big party, a fun party, but pound for pound, I still think Polygondwanaland is their best release to date.

  41. There's a connecting thread to them all but they vary quite a bit, IMO. Some are very atmospheric and abstract and others have more conventional, easier-to-make-out song structures. Sometimes it's acoustic, sometimes it's plugged-in but sparse folk, sometimes it shreds and there are giant walls of distorted crashing drums, sometimes its 3 minutes of fog with bells off in the distance. Don't let one record or stretch of songs that don't resonate with you turn you off to Mt. Eerie/Microphones entirely.

  42. Dawn and Lost Wisdom are both very good, earlier mellow albums. The Glow Pt. 2 and Mount Eerie (the album) by the Microphones are essential listening I’d say but quite different when compared to Now Only and A Crow Looked At Me.

  47. this is the demographic of most people who bought this. 90% hype buyers who have no idea what the fuck it is and hope to resell it one day, paired with the 10% of actual vapor fans that actually know why they want it. no, you aren't boldly discovering new music on a forum, you are giving into hype because you are mildly interested in flipping your purchase.

  48. thanks dude. I appreciate. I've had a lot of help from other people on the board and a few cool label people too. (we've had some labels send us some cool Out Of Print stuff, tests, etc..) I just think it's funny that people are commenting about the pricing without seeing one LP priced.
