  4. This has actually happened before, not quite to the extent of everything being a lie but ahead of Era Vulgaris they did actually feed the media a whole bunch of misinformation about the album including fake guest appearances just because they were tired of the predictable press cycle bullshit ahead of an album release. Regardless of what happens they've earned the right to have their albums be blind purchases with me and it'd probably take two or three utter stinkers of albums to see that change. 6. Just got the new album today. The first song "...Of Your Fake Dimensions" is a perfect opening song, really grabs you. Half-way through listening to it now and very happy with it.

  8. Thought Paracosm was alright, but not really digging this song. Sounds a little flat, and almost forced with the background noise overlay. What I liked about the last album was the lushness of the sound; not really getting that here.

  9. I enjoyed Living Thing for what it was, but the two records after are very forgettable and can often be had for cheap.

  10. The photo kinda shows it, but mine has a fair amount of gold. No chips, too! Gonna throw it on as soon as I'm done with what I'm listening to so I'll report back on the sound quality. Edit: Just finished disc 1 and I'm happy to report it sounds great.

  13. Finally!!! Special 180 colored vinyl Collectors' edition: $45 Standard weight black vinyl: $35 http://kayodot.bigcartel.com/product/kayo-dot-choirs-of-the-eye-2xlp-pre-order I’m beyond stoked to announce that, after 14 years, Kayo Dot’s debut album, Choirs of the Eye, is finally being made available on vinyl for the first time! Thanks to consistent pressure and demand from fans, Choirs’ original label, Tzadik, has been kind enough to grant us permission to *self-release* a special edition of this masterpiece. The only way we can make this happen, therefore, is through pre-orders. Here are the details: • A 2xLP housed in a fancy reflective silver and black gatefold jacket, with an insert featuring *all the lyrics for the first time ever* in their official form, photos, charts from the original recording session, and any other visual artifacts from the original sessions that we can dig up. • Audio remastered specifically for vinyl, from the original masters, by Scott Hull at Masterdisk, who mastered the original CD release back in 2003. • Bonus material will be provided to everyone who pre-orders, including: - An unreleased outtake from the original recording session, in other words, an as-yet-unheard Choirs of the Eye studio skeleton (which will be delivered when the LP is delivered). We’re not sure yet what form this will take - maybe a high-resolution digital version that you can use as a stem in your own music, or maybe a cassette with other weird stuff on it? That’ll be determined by how well the pre-orders do. - The full multi-camera video of Kayo Dot’s performance of Choirs of the Eye at The Stone in August 2015 (which will be delivered as soon as you pre-order! - we'll be manually emailing out download codes for these, so please give us 24 hours to get it to you) • 250 copies will be available in a special collectors’ edition 180g black and silver/white swirl colored vinyl with a bit fancier textured cover, and the remainder will be available in standard weight black vinyl without the textured cover. • Edition of either 750 or 1000, depending on demand. Estimated turnaround time for all of this is roughly five months. That means we’re aiming to have everything shipped out in the beginning of December, to arrive in time for Christmas. Special 180 colored vinyl Collectors' edition: $45 Standard weight black vinyl: $35 Shipping: US Priority Mail = $12.75 for first unit, add $5. each additional unit Canada = $15. for first unit, add $10. each additional unit Worldwide International = $25. for first unit, add $10. each additional unit

  14. So this one flew completely under my radar, despite being high on my want list for years. Seems like this is an EU pressing, which is maybe why there hasn't been much press about it in the US (where I am), but I just wanted to clue everyone in. Lots of online retailers have it, and the release date is apparently 6/16. http://www.bullmoose.com/p/25203820/peter-bjorn-john-writers-block-import-gbr https://www.amazon.com/Writers-Block-PETER-BJORN-JOHN/dp/B06XKK6C3X/ref=sr_1_1_twi_lp__1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497399495&sr=8-1&keywords=writer's+block+vinyl http://www.importcds.com/writers-block/602557527407 http://www.ccmusic.com/writers-block/602557527407

  17. Playing some Meters today. This cover of what I consider a lame song is infinitely better done by a great band.

  22. I also finally got the media mail option. I had to create a new account with a different email because my password wasn't working and when I tried to recover with would send me an email saying, "Your new password is:" with nothing. Anyway, for those having trouble you may need to sign in first before adding anything to your cart or create a new account. I just want a chance to win that "Golden Ticket".

  32. They dont do pre orders so you have to wait until its released to order, but juno.co.uk has this for about 22 and some change, their shipping to Canada is like 7 or 8 dollars, same as to US. Highly recommended site, never had issues with them. http://www.juno.co.uk/products/peter-bjorn-john-writers-block-reissue/652262-01/

  36. I mean, I'm super down the rabbit hole of Twin Peaks right now, and when I saw Josh Homme in that video, I thought, "Man, he looks like he'd fit right in this season of Twin Peaks," similar to how Trent Reznor is supposed to make a cameo. Anyway, all that said, I have trouble trusting anything on TV or whatever right now, and I'm questioning everything. So, it'd be hilarious to me if they played off this lie detector thing, and in fact, that's not a new QOTSA song, Villains isn't the name of the record, Mark Ronson (though I love Ronson's production) didn't produce, and everyone got duped. All of that considered, McPherson up there would still be disappointed in the record, for that is certain. That's all far-fetched, I know, but David Lynch has me all messed up. EDIT: Song clip in the polygraph video is cool. I'm a very casual fan of QOTSA. Era Vulgaris is my favorite record of theirs. I'll be interested in hearing this.

  38. The Killers were my favorite band in HS. I still LOVE their first three albums. I really enjoyed Battle Born. Sawdust is a terrific compilation album. I can even fuck with some of Brandon's solo stuff. Shocked that some people are stoked on this song. It took everything I loved about The Killers and muted it.

  39. That's ok. Its all part of the great and varied complex tapestry of human experience and the individual's filters of bias and experience. I'll volunteer that the "Moves Like Jagger" comment was a bit of a stretch but in my estimation of what I'm hearing I feel like I've heard enough bands go from raw and killer rock bands to strained and polished Pop bands thinly veiled by their pasts as Rock artists that I can tell what's going to happen by the sound of that track. Again, I could be wrong and I know I don't have a lot to go on as we have all only heard about 25 new seconds of original material that is meant to be on this album but I'm going with my intuition and based on my experience of watching bad things happen to good bands, I'm predicting that something bad is going to come with this one. [Most important point]: I hope everyone realizes that they are still fully endowed with the freedom to enjoy this track and any others from this and every artist regardless of my jaded asshole opinion.

  40. Lullabies. I like a few songs on EV but I rarely ever play it. It doesn't have to be desert rock but with JT on the drums you might as well do some bombastic prog rock shit. If they could have taken the tonality of "My God Is The Sun" and based an album on that type of rocking and complexity, that would be good. I wouldn't call that "desert" necessarily but I'm not interested in this band going full Pop. There are a million ways they could go. I'm just shocked its this direction. I could be totally off and there might be mostly killer shit on this album but when you consider the producer and the comments it feels like we're just going to get an upbeat Maroon 5esque Pop/Rock album. Emphasis on the Pop. I hope I'm proven wrong. That clip reminds me more of "Moves Like Jagger" than anything from TCV or QOTSA.

  41. Just heard the music in that video. Does not inspire confidence. Especially when you consider Mark Ronson's inclusion. It literally sounds like they had him functioning as a "co-writer" type of producer on the music for this record. Its fine if Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga do it but I have a different standard for what is supposed to be a band that writes their own original music. And Josh's comments in a recent interview make it seem like that is even more likely the case. Sorry to keep being the stick in the mud on this.

  47. I finished the cabinet I was working on. Cost under $200 and should hold about 700 albums or so. I'm just really proud of the top. Too bad you can't see too much of it. Next step is getting a separate amp for the record set up. Feels good to design and build it myself instead of going to IKEA or paying an arm and a leg for a piece of furniture. It's a nice median between the two.
