Well, for starters, nothing I can write in this post will flip on a light switch that'll make you - personally - reassign your monetary value for this record or double LPs in general. If it's worth it to you and you've decided you're going to spend the money, go for it. My post was referring to the "well, X is charging this much for Y, so I guess that's the new going rate, oh well". You're not the only person to fall back on that logic here at VC, and it's just dangerous for the cost of vinyl as a whole. Yes, the general cost of items rise over time. No, I do not expect to buy double LPs for $22-$25 for the rest of my life. But there are absolutely exceptions. I'm at work and unable to scour the list of what I've purchased this year, but how about smaller self-ran labels like Topshelf, or Deathwish Inc.? I get that their products may not be personally "hand assembled" in runs of 300, but I also feel like there are plenty of labels out there that still offer double LPs for < $35 PPD. That means if that was the average or acceptable price for a double LP, you wouldn't be able to afford 3 albums for $100. And if that was slowly accepted as the norm (and raised for special occasions where records have "hand-sewn jackets" and "handwritten lyric sheets"), eventually you wouldn't be able to even afford shoes to gaze at while you listen to your records.3 points

Y'all do know this is Jorge/George aka "neemus" on IG and "deoxitizer" here right; I think formerly "NEE..." as well He is very passionate re: vinyl and all things shoegaze, sometimes get a little ahead of himself $ wise. Posts a tonne of impressive OG vinyl on Instagram. Super, super nice guy, but tbh we've had some ups and downs with transactions. At one point, he let his discogs buyer rating go down into the 60% range for nonpayment when he overbuys and gets behind in the credit dept. Hope he has everything together for this 1st release of String Light. I wish him all the best and not trying to trash anyone here, but I think full disclosure/ due diligence is in order and my conscience is clear. Again, I hope everything goes smoothly for Jorge, and he can these done, in and out to everyone in a timely fashion. I do like 93mmfts alot, as you can tell from my collection, but only one track on this really gets me going. I love them at their shoegazedrone game best. Discogs buyer feedback2 points

TWIN PEAKS (The 90's show & its return) Discussion - Beware of Spoilers!

Finally watched episodes 1-4 (so I skipped reading any posts on this page made after June 4). I fucking love it...like low-key this could end up being the best Lynch if he maintains this quality through all 18 episodes. It's most likely the last film project he'll ever do, so I'm excited. ALTHOUGH, anyone hating on the Michael Cera scene is dead fucking wrong. That scene is seriously one of the funniest things I've ever watched. My girlfriend and I had to pause it twice because we were like scream laughing and couldn't breathe. Like holy shit, it was perfect and hysterical.2 points -

I actually got both Swervedriver and Cranes there for $47.12ppd and they arrived minty fresh. @Deoxitizer@RobertSmith1 point

I'm assuming DKC is correct cause it looks like The Velvet Underground & Nico and that's the direction I anticipate being taken with that cover art. Metroid probably isn't accurate as that just looks like an in-game screenshot unless I'm missing something.1 point

A friend of mine tipped me off to a classifieds ad in the newspaper, 500 rock records for $75. I called the guy and met him 10 min later, he had them all pulled out, it was a goldmine. Some were pretty beat up and some even moldy, but others were VG+ or better. Filling out my collection with Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Cream, CSNY, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, nothing exceptionally rare but at .15 a record this was a hell of a buy. I had to toss a ton and match covers up and many need a serious cleaning, but pretty minimal effort all things considering. Gonna hook up a few friends and sell what I don't want or have doubles of1 point -

This is interesting, I'm diggin it, but didn't anticipate this for an album closer. Also, I have some signed picture discs, the signature won't hurt the playability of the record if it's on the record itself, alternatively he can sign the part where the label would be where there is no music.1 point -

Wow, with the way things are going, If I were Jim Cramer I'd be slamming the SELL button on any high-$ original pressings of 2000s T&N releases. I'm still holding out hope for someone other than Tooth & Nail to repress the Starflyer 59 catalog. Maybe if Lo Tom is a runaway hit, Barsuk will step up to the plate.1 point

Looking for good Hip Hop/R&B music
Darnoc reacted to mameeshkamowskwoz for a topic
Here's my recommendations from E-H. Essentials in bold. Edan - He does it all; emcee, dj and produce and he has some really cool tunes. A couple of collaborations with Mr. Lif, too. El-P - Fantastic Damage is such a good album it's ridiculous... Elzhi - From Detroit, he was in Slum Village with Jay Dilla and does a cool take on Illmatic called eLmatic Eric B and Rakim - Super old school shit. You've heard their rhymes referenced and samples hundreds of times and it still sounds pretty fresh to this day. Flying Lotus - I'm digging his new album a lot. Very fusion jazzy and a few songs with rapping. Good stuff. Foreign Exchange - Phonte from Little Brother and Nicolay, a french dj, exchanged files across the internet for awhile and eventually did this project. Most of the included artists (Darien Brockington and Yahzarah) are also from the triangle in NC... super soulful good stuff. Gang Starr - Seriously amazing stuff here... they dropper four straight practically flawless albums (Step In the Arena thru Moment of Truth) and are one of the best emcee dj duos ever. Gaslamp Killer - Really cool dj/production stuff... I really dig it! General Patton & the X-ecutioners - three DJs (X-Ecutioners) with Mike Patton... it's fucking awesome. Ghostface Killah - My favorite of the Wu-tang members. Check out Ironman and Supreme Clientelle for sure. Giant Panda - "Fly School Reunion" Good shit here. Old school good vibes feel and plenty of participation from People Under the Stairs, plus it has some Chinese rapping. Neat! Gift of Gab - lyricist from Blackalicious. Solo stuff is pretty good. Gnarls Barkley - St Elsewhere is a little rappy and despite the overhyped singles, there are some serious jams. Transformer, Go-Go Gadget Gospel. Go! Team - Good jammy hip-hop dancy tunes and it's like good jock jams for the present. I hear it in ads and on ESPN all the time nowadays. Goodie Mobb - Cee-Lo, Big Gipp, T-Mo, Khujo Goodie... part of the Dungeon Family. Soul Food is a classic. Gorillaz - I'm sure you've heard it because it had pretty mass appeal... I prefer the first album with Del and Dan the Automator, but the later albums have MF Doom, De La Soul and others Grand Buffet - These two guys are awesome and I highly recommend this. Not merely joke rap, but they are clever and funny as hell. I really recommend them to anyone. If you're not offended by a little sacrilege, check out the tarck "Nate Kuklas History of Lemonade" Grayskul - Their album Deadlivers is pretty good stuff. Guilty Simpson - grimy fucking emcee out of Detroit on Stones Throw. Plenty of work with Madlib and this dude is bad ass. Check out the OJ Simpson album and the first Madlib Medicine show albums. Guru - The emcee from Gang Starr. His Jazzmatazz albums are dope as hell. RIP GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords is probably the best solo Wu-tang album and should be checked out for sure. Haiku D'etat - Sometimes a little showy in their vocal acumen, but cool stuff. Aceyalone, Mika 9 and Abstract Rude. Hail Mary Mallon - Aespo Rock, Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz... good times Handsome Boy Modeling School - (Dan the Automator and Prince Paul) Wow... super group city crossing so many genres. The first album is definitely better (featuring (inhales) Del the Funky Homo Sapien, Miho from Cibo Matto, Mide D from the Beasties, Brand Nubian, J-Live, Roisin Murphy from Moloko, DJ Shadow, Biz Markie, Money Mark, Sean Lennon, Kid Koala, Alec Empire, El-P) and the second album has appearances from De La Soul, Mike Patton, Del, Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand, Jack Johnson, Kid Koala, Casual, Cat Power, Mike and chester from Linkin Park, Qbert, Lord Finesse, Rahzel, Chino from Deftones, El-P, Cage, Pharrell Williams, Dres from Black Sheep, Mars Volta, RZA, John Oates) Hangar 18 - Fun drunken party hip hop on Def Jux. Headnodic - Good instrumental hip hop producer Heiruspecs - Hip-hop band from St. Paul. Not essential, but good. Heliocentrics - cool instrumental hip hop Herbaliser - Super smooth funky hip hop that is mostly instrumental, but features emcees occasionally. Hieroglyphics - Massive Oakland crew with Del, Casual, Domino, Pep Love, A-Plus, Opio, Tajai, Phesto and DJ Toure (half the group comprise Souls of Mischief) 3rd Eye Vision is an absolute classic. Home Brew - New Zealand hip hop... pretty damned good and jazzy1 point
