  5. Crazy thing I experienced is that I spent $65 on 2 records and feel like I got a "deal".

  7. RSD was awesome for me, I've been on both sides of the counter but this was my first experience managing a record store for RSD. We gave out donuts and coffee for the morning crowd, had local artists perform from open until close. Raffled off concert tickets, new cds, new and used LPs including a gold copy of the Drive soundtrack, brushes and cleaning fluid, a carrying case for 45s filled with rare 45s, some rare Linda ronstadt records (it's an inside joke unless you have been to my shop, we got a collection containing every Linda Ronstadt record or single on any format including 8 track and also variants on just about every country of release from Japan to Argentina, so we did a test pressing and an import picture sleeve and a picture disc LP for the raffle). It was humbling to see that many people having a great time and buying physical media. Sales were up a sizable amount from the previous year, so I'm beaming with pride. I oversaw all the ordering and spent countless hours prepping and it was well worth all the effort, and my staff was on point the whole time and leading up to the event, I could not have done it without them. I rewarded them with gourmet pizza. I in turn was also rewarded because at the end of the day I was still able to grab the Tim Armstrong, Dessa 7" and The Grant Green Slick set. I did snipe one thing and it was the Sundays but I had the other 2 and I was damned if I was going to miss this one but I paid sticker price. Luckily the other local had a Bert Jansch, so all I missed out on from my list was the Gene Clark and I think I have a line on a leftover. Fantastic experience all and all but I am exhausted.

  8. Craziest thing I saw was someone buying the Stone Sour release, I didn't know they had fans.

  9. The guy in front of my girlfriend and I bought a fuckton of stuff. Turns out he was just a super-friendly dad and this was his first RSD. He works at a different record store that wasn't participating. Half of what he was buying was non-RSD stuff and he was just happy to be partaking. It was really wholesome in the sea of grody peeps

  10. You know it. Also the same stl_ben who flips Mondo releases, and also the same stl_ben obsessed with gaping. Just a general piece of shit any way that you cut it, really.

  12. Here is a discogs dealer putting his leftovers up for sale now. He seems to have a lot of titles to offer. He is listing alphabetically - he is in the B's now: https://www.discogs.com/seller/downinthevalley/profile

  13. The deal for the reissues going back to 2010 or whenever it was was with EMI. That was for 8 reissues (Gish through Machina plus Rotten Apples). EMI was sold to Universal (?), and I'm sure the terms of contact were nullified after a point. It would make sense Universal would stick with it through their popular albums and say screw it to an album that was half a bomb - sales wise, and half given away for free. On top of that Billy wants to spend more time recording and adding new stuff to the album, rather than just compiling and remastering it.

  17. Collecting vinyl sucks and is a huge hassle so if you aren't getting much out of it, stopping is the right move. I also live in Los Angeles and maybe 30% or more of records I get have at least some kind of warp. I've become kind of numb to them, unless they are really gnarly or cause skips. Corner bends and seal splits are pretty rare though. If I cared every time there was a cosmetic defect on a record or a hint of surface noise, I'd go insane because it's pretty common for me.

  21. Yep. I believe I read that the split is 180g. My green is def not. Sounds pretty great though. Edit: Prob how they justify the $20 markup between the two.

  22. Magento is a kickass cart system when utilized properly. Most webmasters are clueless when it comes to server capacity though. The way most sites are configured, it only takes a couple hundred visitors on the cart to crash the whole thing. They should have contacted their hosting provider prior to this release and said, "Hey, we're about to get hammered with traffic. Can you please temporarily increase our server capacity?" Pretty simple solution, and it likely would have worked unless their hosting provider is completely incompetent.

  23. I've reached out to Bull Moose in the past to ask why they won't ship to non-US addresses and the answer was that they can't (or won't?) process non-US credit cards (for some reason??).

  28. I placed two orders (one BandCamp and one Shopify) and he shipped out both but they both arrived warped to high heavens. I messaged him about replacements on Reddit and he was super responsive and nice and said he'd send out replacements. That was 4-5 weeks ago and it looks like he hasn't logged into that account since the day I talked to him. As far as I know, I won't get replacements, so I'm just keeping my copies in between a few glass sheets and hoping they flatten out a little over the next few weeks.

  30. My shop in Baltimore (The Sound Garden) had literal stacks of the green ones this morning after a complete lack from Friday until now. Fuck these flippers, there's plenty of these guys out there in the wild and I imagine they will all start showing up today on shelves.

  32. I don't know the specifics but after the the rights switched hands during the reissue campaign, the Machina/Machina II reissue was put on the back burner. There are some interviews were Billy touches on it but nothing in great detail.

  33. I don't think you'll have much trouble finding the Bowie.... Seems like they pressed a TON and a lot of stores have overstock. That said, it's not cheap..... The lowest retail price I saw was $44.99. One of my locals looks to have a BUNCH leftover. On Saturday afternoon he was sitting on close to 30 copies, and he's not a big store. He's not selling RSD leftovers on his Discogs page, but I bet if you reached out he'd sell you one. His price was $50. https://www.discogs.com/seller/reporecord/profile
