  10. I can recommend a few. Actually, I'm going to start a world beat/world music recommendation thread after I post this. People have already mentioned Sun City Girls. They had a long and interesting run that began along side other Phoenix punk bands like J.F.A. but I wouldn't call SCG a punk band. Their discography is rather large but favorites tend to be Torch of the Mystics and 330,003 Crossdressers From Beyond The Rig Veda. I also really like Sumatran Electric Chair. They're not for everyone but if you're a fan of Middle Eastern or West African music or The Residents---then give them a try. Even though I love Krautrock, I'm not a huge fan of Harmonia. But I really like and recommend picking up Deluxe. Harmonia was Michael Rother from Neu! and Moebius and Roedelius from Cluster. This means lots of electronic/synth sounds and beats with some guitar for punctuation. Brian Eno was a huge fan and joined them/ripped them off at one point. The box set mentioned is really for the true fan but if Harmonia sounds interesting then I suggest you start with Deluxe. The record I can't recommend enough is Tribo Massahi. If you like Brazilian psych or Fela Kuti, I suggest you grab this. It has been on heavy rotation around here the last few weeks. While the record is broken into songs, each side sounds like a long jam session that flows seamlessly from one song to the next without interruption. I found a copy for $22 on Discogs which is close to cost. It retails in the $35 range. While I know and like Don Cherry, I'm not familiar with this release especially since it has never been released. Cherry played with Ornette Coleman and Charlie Haden. He put out records under his own name as well. He's also the father of Neneh and Eagle-Eye Cherry. If you like jazz, then check him out. The Popol Vuh record is also highly recommended. Another Krautrock band that's really just Florian Fricke and a host of collaborators, Popol Vuh is like nothing else. While Krautrock tends to be associated with synthesizers, Fricke moved away from electronica early on and developed his own sound. This record is a beautiful and dramatic soundscape that is both moody and moving. I almost forgot about Doug Hream Blunt. I picked up a two song 12" single last spring that left me wanting more. Blunt creates a funky groove and delivers sexy lyrics with a laid back tone that don't sound dated especially if you dig Ariel Pink. The 12" is a remix so I'm not sure what blunt creates without being mixed by someone else but I'm definitely checking out the full length. I'm not sure about the rest of the list but I may check out a few.

  16. Not to sound at all condescending, but as someone who used to bump heads with you more than most anyone else on the board, I just wanted to say that your choices haven't gone unnoticed. You've made tremendous strides in being supportive and positive to the forums, and I admire that. We all have rough spots and go through personal shit that gets reflected in some of our posts, but it seems like a lot of that is either behind you, or that you've taken a whole new approach to keeping a lid on it as far as your online persona is concerned. Either way, your posts have been pleasant for quite a while now and I feel like I appreciate that fact more than most.

  17. Hi guys and gals, There are a lot of great people who contribute to this board and I'm very thankful to be a part of it. I realized I was being a negative asshole here for a long time, acting like an internet keyboard warrior, and surely pissed a lot of people off while acting a fool. This is an open apology for acting like an asshole. This board has helped me snag some really good deals / grab PO's that I would not have known about otherwise, and I'm forever grateful for it. Moving forward, my goal has been to be a solid contributing and positive member while staying away / out of the drama. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, Festivus, or whatever you may celebrate, and a happy New Year. I look forward to 2016 full of awesome releases and opportunities to discover new music. -Mark

  25. get ready for some weird shit. Sir Richard Bishop is out there. Also, fun fact: Sun City is a retirement community out in AZ, pretty much, so they're name basically alludes to them being old ladies. I second the worth a listen, its just so in its own class.

  29. haha I was about to say MultiQuote can be your friend. But on the real, we weren't attacking you. We were discussing it with you. Explaining it from our point of view. If you took it as a bunch of cool kids flaming you, you missed the point. Some people have very sarcastic tones, some people are direct. Just have some fun dude and don't take it personal.

  30. yesssssssssss mine arrived today! it is indeed the pressing i expected (and really wanted) it to be, etching is L-11458M-A DOG-047 A no date or any markings indicating the date unfortunately, since Doghouse said it was the 'remastered' version, and the remastered CD came out in 2001, I'm going to assume this pressing came out on or around the same time, so by my calculations there's been the following pressings, each has a new test pressing: 1st Press - 1997 (Black, Coke Bottle Clear, Translucent Blue, Translucent Red, Translucent Gold) 2nd Press (Remastered) - 2001 (Black w/ Different Center Labels) 3rd Press (Euro on Defiance Records) - 2002 (Black w/ Different Artwork) 4th Press (Reissue) - 2008 (Clear, Opaque Blue, Opaque Pink, Translucent Gold) 5th Press (15th Anniversary) - 2012 (White, White w/ Blue Haze) 6th Press - 2015 (White w/ Blue Splatter)

  35. The ones I read did, but thats's neither here nor there. The fact remains that it still doesn't make him any less of an asshole because it's life saving medicine for "only" 2000 people per year instead of the entire aids/hiv population. He has also done similar things before. Dude's a turd.

  37. TBH I think this price point is fair as it will support a struggling online indie music shop, Disney Music, as they fight to bring an up and coming indie music conductor, John Williams, and his music to the masses......
