  2. Yeah, I'm pretty psyched. A new TGTBTQ is the other thing I'm most excited about. Can't wait.

  3. Anybody ever been to Salt City Horror Fest before? I'm going next weekend. Small film fest/convention that shows a bunch of stuff on 35mm and has some guests for Q+A's, signings, etc. If they're not charging for autographs I wanna get the composer of Re-animator to sign my vinyl.

  4. In the beginning Gumbo, you were over the top, but seemed sincere to me anyways in your passion for THE genre. Felt sorry for you had that string of "bad luck" (my worst was 3 in a row, but now on a 2 1/2 year + streak) with shipping incidents, scratched/damaged records, misrepresented/overpriced records from overseas, etc. etc So you got SA Kickstarter pack for less than 1/2 price, a free PSOTY shirt, Te' 3xLP (with pictures, priced for the jacket dings from Denovali, etc). Offered you an Aussewelt /100 at LOW price since your copy was marred, and then you played the "I'm poor" card. You should have said, No thanks, changed my mind, or "simply fine with my imperfect record" vs. I'm outta work, etc. All the while, you're starting PO threads for pet bands $, spearheading group buys $, jet-setting across the pond to festivals!, etc. And continuing to wax eloquent And recommend bands "new discoveries" that 90% of already know about That's why I suggested you start a blog or go write for Pitchfork, instead of hijacking this thread, really.... this whole site. No ill to you dude, people have tried every which way to get through to you and you still don't get it. I had forgotten Evan's quote of yours above re: "playing the troll" BS. Here's your latest shipping gripe/mishap for those who don't have the privilege of enjoyment. Literally 1 hr before I had mentioned you were on FB and didn't know you had posted this gem. And for the record it was /100 that Dan on Cavity Records put up with no hoopla and they sat there FOR A YEAR. FB had started charging bands to post there, so they wouldn't advertise it until they needed money for a tour. Once they posted the link (I had emailed Armine and Matt W about doing it for the $6 FB fee months before), they sold out in hours. $60 from overseas -good for you - from your 'early post-rock collecting days.' OK, this blog belongs to you, meet the rest of you at the usual place until things get back to normal here.

  7. Hazel English will release her first full-length LP Just Give In/Never Going Home, compiling her debut EP alongside six new tracks. The album will be available on May 12th. It is currently up for preorder in an “Early Bird Edition” that is limited to 300 and is a split light blue/pink 2xLP. It is also available in a 180-gram light blue/light yellow 2xLP. Her first EP is OOP and a tough one to get ahold of so might want to act quick if you want the early bird. https://www.polyvinylrecords.com/product/just_give_innever_going_

  13. How can you be "big" into SP and not have your hands on Drown? That makes zero sense. This is one of the best comps of all time, of any genre for all of the reasons other mentioned.

  16. Denver dates coming up next week. Gonna lose my damn mind at all three shows. First night is Sticks & Stones / Coming Home, so I'll probably die that night and miss the next two.

  17. I don't think the movie is anywhere near as important or popular as the soundtrack. The only reason i even bothered to watch the movie was because of the music and the fact that i knew that soundgarden/AIC/ PJ made appearances in it. I agree with pretty much most people here who have posted talking about what a significant soundtrack this was at the time and really for a few years following it as well. I was 15 years old living in a 5k person town when it came out and was probably still listening to it regularly when i went to college because it was so good.

  19. They finally got inducted into the Hall of Fame I hear. Nice and a slap at the same time it took so long. Glad to hear they still have their chops. Yes (and all prog) were introduced to me by my best friend's older brothers, who turned their nose up anything radio. I remember them going into panic mode when word got out he had a heart attack in his 20's! (I will still in grade school or junior high). Can't believe he is still going strong as ever.

  20. Sincerely, Future Pollution is the follow up to Hot Dreams from Timber Timbre. thought i'd post just in case someone digs this unique group and missed the news on this one. I am really enjoying this album, slightly different from their older stuff, quite synth heavy, still those classic dark tones though. Some very danceable, catchy moments peppered with weird and wonderful experimentation. Video NSFW vinyl comes in standard black and limited clear pressing

  21. Pretty spot on. Its my favorite soundtrack of all time just in front of The Crow. In regards to Soundgarden, the Pumpkins, AIC, and MLB its my favorite songs of theirs. The rest is nostalgia overload for me. I love it. Good times and the Adult Grunge Compilation would be sub pop's The Grunge Years.

  23. I was more a fan of their earlier stuff, but this sounds a bit like Phosphorescent, which I dig. I'd like to hear more before I order.

  30. random story time... i've seen TA three times before, opening for other bands (circa survive and envy). always thought they were good and admired their energy, but never really listened to any of their recordings. my wife and i ran into jeremy and clayton outside of a local record shop (Vinal Edge) before the show tonight--we were across the street getting coffee, and i thought i recognized jeremy from a distance... walked over and sure enough... i asked 'em what time they were going on because we were running a little behind. they were supposed to go on in about an hour and asked if we could give them a ride to the venue because Uber rides were like 30 bucks (there was an Astros game and I think maybe a Rockets game too going on at around the same time). we had to move carseats, but it was no problem. SUPER nice guys. it was a lot of fun talking to them during the ~15 minute drive to the venue. when we got there, they got our names and told us that their manager/merch guy would hook us up. boy did he... they put on a killer show!! and i can't wait to give these a spin.

  31. Well, shit. I was going to see if I could go a WHOLE DAY without buying an album, and this ended that attempt. There's always tomorrow! (Thanks for posting. I have always loved this album. "Larry" is my favorite.)

  34. It could be argued that Malcolm Mclaren (manager of the Sex Pistols) are why The Clash ever formed. But it's not quite as seedy as Mclaren seeing New York Dolls and Television and then traveling back to England to recruite band members based on their look to form Sex Pistols. There's a huge difference between Paul Simonon and Dee Dee Ramone as compared to Sid Vicious. Totally beyond the point tho since we dropped 59 missiles on Syria today.

  38. Good on you guys. Will also be lucky to see Neurosis in July, as they're coming through to Helsinki. Speaking of, FFO Neurosis. Adrift For Days album coming in June and it prompted me to listen to their debut, which is also really solid. Recommended listen. Also their sophomore is available on wax, if interested. One great diverse trip to take. Here's the link to both albums and the new single. https://adriftfordays.bandcamp.com/album/the-lunar-maria-2 https://adriftfordays.bandcamp.com/album/come-midnight-2 https://adriftfordays.bandcamp.com/album/a-sleepless-grey
