  3. Per Heavenly Records: Hello, We would like to thank-you for pre-ordering the new Mark Lanegan album 'Gargoyle' via the Heavenly Emporium. For those that bought the LP we would like to inform you that your record will be on red vinyl which is limited to 500 copies world wide. So...if you want to buy it on limited RED Vinyl, get over to Heavenly now: http://heavenlyemporium.com/buy/gargoyle-4/

  4. Yet you'll buy an Au Revoir album that is probably mediocre and way overpriced...because the variant is 'sick' looking.

  6. JRHews is a very civil dude with remarkably level-headed posts. I didn't want to bring up that Au Revoir LP because I didn't know if Gumbo had actually purchased it yet, and also because I was iffy about it sparking the whole "fuck u m8, u really gonna tell me how to spend my $?" garbage fire that often smoulders up in numerous threads. But as much as I may agree with Hews' post and questioning of the rationality behind $40+ for a single LP of Gumbo Music™ vs. $30 for a double LP of a live album by Isis, the main ridicule comes from the vibe that's smothered with Gumbo's prior post, I think. It's fine that he's on a budget, and no one is going to legitimately lose sleep over what he chooses to spend money on. But in an Isis thread where people are hyped to hear and own the next installment of an Isis live release, it seems silly to dilute the general buzz by posting something akin to "eh... it seems cool but the last Isis record I ordered didn't sound good on my chintzy setup, and I really need to hear more than just a teaser before I can get hyped enough to drop $30 on this thing, whatever". No one is faulting Gumbo for having that opinion, but it just feels counter-productive to the momentum of the thread. That's where I find a snag, anyway. But like bortx said – some thicker skin wouldn't hurt the guy, either, when interacting with the world wide web.

  7. Love End of an Ear, have a pin from there on my bag. Waterloo is okay, but I'll probably skip it when I'm in town again in April. Just saw that the Austin location of Friends of Sound closed. Too bad, I never made it there. Might have to try and hit Antones. Never been there either and it looks cool. God I fucking love that city so much.

  9. Been here a few days now and I've eaten maybe 12 tacos so far. Hit up End of an Ear yesterday; was a great shop with fair prices. Ended up picking up the Frank Ocean Endless boot. As far as food goes, its been amazing. We hit Pueblo Viejo for Pastor tacos after landing, went for a hike up the Green Belt and then ate Taco Deli for breakfast, Home Slice pizza for dinner, and then Veracruz for lunch today (Migas tacos were so good). Hitting up JuiceLand each morning has been solid too. Hoping to get in a few more restaurants before leaving tomorrow and maybe another 5-6 tacos

Up at Bull Moose for those who prefer to buy it there: http://www.bullmoose.com/p/24761990/childish-gambino-awaken-my-love-2xblack-lp-with-gitd-cover-vr-headset-digital-download Love the hell out of Gambino, liked this album okay, and kind of struggling to justify 60 bones. Might wait a bit and see if this hangs around like Because the Internet did.

  37. Working a 3am to noon inventory shift. I've gotten too good at the monthly inventory. Finished that AND all the regular opening shit too. A normal open shift starts at 7, so my opener just walked in and was like "Wait...what the fuck are we supposed to do until we open at 9?" I just shrugged and said "Fuck around on our phones?" If it was any other kid I'd have texted and told him he could come in late. I know for a fact he would've come in on time anyways. Homie just loves to work.

  38. Especially in here. Gtfo with that shit. This isn't "Gumbo's 'Dear Diary, I got another scratched record' " thread. We don't care.

  39. Your set up has A LOT to do with it. You should do your research, cause the more work you put in the more you'll get out. As Thomas said, it's mostly likely your set up not being able to handle the slight scratches. And no, cleaning doesn't fix scratches, but it does remove a lot of what you think might be scratches. Not every pop or click is simply a 'scratch'. Really though, learn more about the hobby. Learn how how records are pressed, how they work, how the information is read, what effects play, how to fix it, etc. You say 'it isn't my set up' but you aren't that versed in the hobby, opposed to many on here. I'm not saying there are people in here better than you, but why not listen to the advice more seasoned people have to offer instead of make complaints only to brush off someone giving you advice. You complain about the common stuff that no one complains about cause we all know better, and that these are common 'issuses'. The fact that they aren't even issues, it just what's you get to deal with. We tell you what it is, how to fix it, but you'd rather complain. C'mon, man. So many nice people are trying to help. Why not take the advice, build, learn, grow. If you spent half the time learning as you do complaining, you would solve most of your issues. Think of all of the time, frustration, shipping, negotiating of replacements, money, etc you'll save ... This is my last time giving you advice. It's always in one ear out the other. Do what ya want, except complain - stop complaining. You're a grown man.

  41. I don't know where you're based, but I don't think international shipping is ever gonna be much cheaper. Plus, that's only like $29. I wouldn't call something readily available for under $30 a white whale; the term implies it's hard to find.

  42. my guess is that discretionary income is a big factor in the grand scheme of things. perhaps maybe people simply don't want to spread themselves too thin on one artist to the point to where they're precluded from getting even standard variant issues of other artists? i got snippy because i was met with douchebaggery. and to be quite honest, as a long time lurker, there are lot of elitist turds on here anyway, so you must be ignoring a lot of people.
