  1. Hi guys. I'm alive! I'm still check the board once in a while. I left HT a couple years ago, leaving had nothing to do with the vinyl or lack of vinyl at HT. That was really only a small part of what I did over there but it was definitely my favorite part of the job.

    Angels & Airwaves - LP6

i agree completely. WDNTW and I empire are so good but maybe thats just cause how obsessed i was when they came out. i think TDW was good and ilans contributions are mostly good but the stuff can end up sounding a little generic/synthy at times. makes you realize how critical "critter" was as the producer for all the early years.

  10. @Han Solo just update the title for Season 8 talk. Last nights episode was incredible. Super dark though. As in I couldn’t see anything for the first half or so. Still amazing though.

  11. Apparently this got released back in February but it completely slipped under my radar. Amazing album, one of my 'why has this never been pressed' and now it finally has! Their best album in my eyes, if you like their newer stuff but have never heard it i'd definitely give it a crack! 13. Okay. I was excited for this. Not just the new music, but the mock up looked like the Legion season 1 2xlp that is fucking gorgeous. Then to get that. I mean it sounds great but... It's probably like sex with me. Ladies get all excited at the promise and then when the final product is unveiled they're like, "that's it?"

  14. Oh snap! It's a commentary on the state of the galaxy. Shit's deep yo. Oh shit.. Im dumb. You right. Mods please delete my shame Or leave it up so people can laugh at me. Edit 2: Looks nothing like the mock though. Shit might as well be black. Okay, I'm done now. Edit 3: Can't stop, won't stop... Here is the color it is supposed to be: https://www.amazon.com/Mettavolution-Galaxy-Colored-Rodrigo-Gabriela/dp/B07MX27KS6

  19. “Rebel Girl” premiered on Utah’s x96 today at noon. A user on Reddit recorded the stream, and uploaded it to Dropbox. I gotta say, it’s a unique track. Definitely a new direction for the band, yet had the signature Tom/Angels sound. Love the OG Angels guitar toward the end. Stoked for this album!

  30. So much good stuff I need to check out in this thread. Also, sadly defunct, but in a similar kind of happy vibe math rock https://youslut.bandcamp.com/album/critical-meat (there's an LP of this floating about that has this and another slamming album on it - cost effective!) Edit: also this one particular Enemies album https://enemiesmusic.bandcamp.com/album/embark-embrace-2

  31. Gonna get hate for this but... The Mercury Program is not a math rock band. They are more straight forward Tortoise influenced post rock. Sorrryyyyy. Maybe their first LP but outside of that, no no no. "The View From This Tower" by Faraquet is technically post hardcore, but you seriously cannot argue it influenced SO MANY math rock bands with the guitar playing. Something to look into. If you are into the more Don Cab/A Minor Forest/etc style, I cant recommend the Lynx LP enough. One of the guitarists is in Battles now. And the bassist was in a shit ton of awesome post hardcore bands. I back mention of Maps & Atlases "Trees" EP. That EP and the first Tera Melos album basically changed the approach of math rock that came after. Not to mention Piglet. Omg Piglet. What else. hmm. Rumah Sakit. Weight & Measures. Volta Do Mar. Okay I'm done talking. haha. Just a note though. if you are looking to explore the genre, just be aware that the older/earlier stuff (slint, polvo, rodan, chavez, etc) sounds EXTREMELY different then now a days stuff (Covet, Friends, Invalids, etc) that is marked with the same genre title.

  35. Check out Clever Girl too. They only dropped one EP before dissolving but it’s pretty slick, and incorporates a lot more brass than you’d typically hear with your math rock. Vasudeva and Giraffes? Giraffes! are both pretty nice, too. The latter of which really sparked my interest in the genre with their first 2 releases.

  41. Although this statement is true, I think we're all fairly familiar with the current state of vinyl price gouging. So to assume we didn't take this into account prior to our reactions over the $32 price tag is a bit naive. I think we can all agree $31.98 for single LP and standard sleeve/jacket is pretty outrageous even by today's standards. $30+ is normally reserved for 2xLP or at the least 180g LPs in deluxe gatefold jackets with insert/printed sleeve/etc. Holding out hope that there's more variants to come and or this was simply an oversight on labels side.
